"Get your stuff." Derek pulls my headphone off my head
"Hey!"
"Get your stuff."
"Why?"
"Erica's bringing you home."
"What? Really?" I smile and stand up from my seat
"You don't have to pretend you enjoyed being here."
"To be honest, I really didn't. I've been bored as hell. You were busy and I couldn't even help."
"Yeah, sorry about that." Derek hands me my bag
"You have fifteen minutes." I nod and take my bag out of his hands
"Why now? Why are you letting me go home now?"
"Scott and I have business to discuss."
"So?"
"He might come here. He can't really know I was keeping you here."
"Right." I start packing my bag and I see Derek's hands take some of my stuff and he hands it to me.
"Thanks." He doesn't reply, but keeps helping me
"I think I'm done." I say looking through the lair
"OK, great. Erica!" Derek shouts and Erica shows up
"Yeah?"
"She's ready. Take her home." Derek turns back to me
"If something happens don't forget to tell anyone. It doesn't have to be my, Erica, Boyd or Isaac, but tell someone." I nod
"Promise?"
"Promise." I feel the weight being pulled from my right hand and I see Derek pushing it into Erica' arms
"Put these in her car." Erica was about to protest, but Derek pulled a face keeping her from doing so and she sighed before walking to the stairs mumbling something to herself that sounded like 'asshole'
"Be safe. If Jackson gives you any trouble. Call me."
"I'm not calling you."
"Why not?" He says, clearly not expecting that answer
"If I call you saying he's giving me trouble, you're gonna kill him, even if you told Scott you wouldn't." Derek wanted to say that's not true, but he knew I would know he was lying and he didn't say a thing
"Bye, Derek."
"Bye, Cass." I give a sad smile and turn around, not waiting to look if he returned it. I walk up the stairs to my car, where Erica was waiting for me, still holding my bags
"Your car was locked and I didn't have the keys." I nod and open the car from afar and she trows my bag in the trunk
"I'm driving."
"No, you're not. It's my car."
"I'm driving."
"No, you don't." I get behind the steering wheel and Erica stands in front of the car.
"I'm just gonna ride over you."
"No, you won't." I push the pedal and the car moves forward and Erica jumps behind
"Are you crazy?!"
"Don't be a pussy, you'll just heal. But first it'll hurt." I smirk and she glares
"Now get in the car, or I'm going without you."
"Fine by me. Go alone. That means more time for myself."
"That also means, not listening to Derek's orders." Erica's face flinched and glared at me before getting in the passenger seat. I smile and drive to my home. I drive on the drive-in and I lock the car
"How am I supposed to get back now?"
"I don't know. Walk?" Erica glared at me again
"Stop glaring. You'll get wrinkles." Erica stopped glaring and felt her forehead. I laughed
"You're still fine, but if you like I have a bike in the garage. I don't use it anymore. You can have it. It's better than walking."
"Or I call so Isaac comes pick me up."
"Sure. Try that. At least call inside. It's getting cold out here." I open my door and hold it open for Erica. She walks in and I close the door behind her. She walks straight to the living and starts calling. I walk over to the fridge and looked inside. Nothing. Right I packed it all to Derek's. I sighted and closed it again. I heard Erica walking to me.
"Isaac is going with Derek so he can't come and pick me up."
"Great."
"Great? You call that great?"
"Yeah, I have to go to the grocery store anyway. I think Derek would give you a break if you say you offered to come and protect me on my way there." I give her a fake smile and she looked at me, trying to figure out what I was trying to say
"You want me to co--" She was interrupted by my phone
"Sorry." I say to her and I look at my phone. Scott's calling
"Scott? Something wrong?"
"Nothing's wrong. I just want you to come to my work."
"Why?"
"I'm meeting with Derek here, but I'm pretty sure he's taking someone with him." Yeah, Isaac.
"And why do you want me to come?"
"Because I won't trust Stiles with this and I don't want to stand alone against two." I sighed. I look up at Erica and see her shake her head and she mouth
'Derek won't like it.'
'I know. I'm sorry."
"Sure. I'm on my way."
"Thanks." He ends the conversation
"Derek's gonna kill me if he knows I'm letting you go."
"You don't have a choice. I told them if they needed me I'll be there. So if I'm not, it'll be suspicious. And If I wasn't locked up with you I would have gone."
"But still--"
"No, stop talking, Erica. I'm going. If you want I'll give you a ride to the lair."
"Fine." She sights after a moment and we walk back outside. Like I promised I gave Erica a ride back and I drove off to Scott's work.

I drove on the parking and saw Derek's car standing there. I sighed, but putted on a fake smile and walked inside. When I walked inside the bell rang and everyone went silent. I tried to walk to the back, but something held me back. I looked and realized. Mountain ash. I closed my eyes and mentally I pushed the barrier open. I smiled at my action, which required  a lot of practice and I walked to the back.
"Sorry to be late." Derek was looking shocked to see me and I can understand why. He just ordered Erica to get me home safe and now I'm in the middle of all this again.
"About time, Cass."
"I left as soon as you called me." I say, trying to be subtle in telling Derek that that's why I'm here. My gaze met Derek's for a brief second. Deaton places a scale on the table. Isaac sticks his hand out, trying to touch it, but Derek slaps his hand away
"Watch what you touch." Isaac lays his arms on the table
"So, what are you? Some kind of witch?" Deaton looks up from what ever he was doing
"No, I'm a veterinarian." Stupid question, Isaac
"Unfortunately, I don't see anything here that's going to be an effective defense against a paralytic toxin."
"We're open for suggestions." Derek says locking eyes with Deaton
"What about an effective offense?"
"We already tried. I nearly took its head off. And Argent emptied an entire clip into it. The thing just gets back up." Derek says explaining hat happened the night at the club
"Has it shown any weaknesses?"
"Well, one."
"It can't swim" I say knowing what he would say
"Does that go for Jackson as well?"
"No. He's the captain of the swim team." Deaton looks at Scott.
"Essentially, you're trying to catch two people." Deaton walks back and starts rumbling through one of his cabinets. He comes back and holds a coin
"A puppet - and a puppeteer." He lays the coin on the table
"One killed the husband, but the other had to take care of the wife. Do we know why?"
"I don't think Jackson could do it. His mother died pregnant too, and she was maybe murdered. I think he couldn't let the same thing happen to someone else." I look at Scott. I didn't know that...
"How do you know it's not part of the rules? The kanima kills murderers. If Jackson kills the wife, then the baby dies too." Isaac says, staring into nothing
"Does that mean your father was a murderer?"
"Wouldn't surprise me if he was."
"Hold on. The book says they're bonded, right? What if the fear of water isn't coming from Jackson, but from the person controlling him?"
"What if something that affects the kanima also affects its master?" Deaton starts doing things again. I look down and I see him scatter a circle with something around the coin.
"Meaning what?" Isaac says. Everyone is looking at Deaton, except for me, I'm looking at Scott and Isaac. I let Deaton's words sink in. And then it hits me
"Meaning we can catch them. Both of them." I say looking at Deaton. He doesn't really nod, but something in his posture is telling me I'm right.
