84. Can I have this dance?

Elijah gathered the attention of all the guests and the whole family is supposed to stand with them on the stairs. I've tried bargaining with mother, but she insisted me to be part of the family for as long as I'm in Mystic Falls. I stand between Kol and Nick on the stairs. My eyes lock with Damon's and Stefan's and I can see the shock in their eyes. Elijah started talking
"Welcome. Thank you for joining us. You know, whenever my mother brings our family together like this, it's tradition for us to commence the evening with a dance." The Salvatore brothers' gaze change place. I look up and see mother walking downstairs
"Tonight's pick is a centuries-old waltz, so if all of you could please find yourselves a partner, please join us in the ballroom" Elijah finishes and everyone starts leaving towards the ballroom, except mother, who went upstairs. I tried to go upstairs, but Elijah stopped me
"Can I have this dance of my oldest sister?" I saw mother disappear out of my sight and I faked a smile 
"Sure, Elijah." I let him guide me downstairs and when the music started Elijah guided me through the dance. From the corners of my eye I saw Stefan stare at me and at the dancing Elena and Damon. I guess Elena has the Salvatore brother just like Kathrine.
"I see you know the Salvatore brothers."
"Yes, I met them before they were turned. I left not long after I saw what Kathrine was doing to them. I think that if I'd never had left that they would still be human."
"You cannot blame yourself for that, Cassandra."
"I know, but I can't help it. I'll always will I guess." I looked at the other dancers and Nick caught my attention. He's dancing with Caroline. It was time to switch dance partners
"Why were you standing between the Mikaelsons?"
"What difference does it make, Damon"
"Actually, a lot."
"And why is that?"
"If you know the family well enough, you can find out what Esther wants from Elena."
"I can't. If she wants to talk to Elena alone, no one else knows and she's not going to tell me. Anyway, I don't wee Elena anywhere. If you're really that protective, you should go find her." Damon looked around and let go of me. I walked to the side and I looked at the dancing couples. Damon stood beside me
"I can't find her."
"Sorry. I only noticed she was gone when you said her name. I didn't see where she went."
"Great." I saw Kol and Rebekah talk. I didn't listen in, I didn't care enough, but I could tell that they were making a plan. Damon got a text
"Found her. Need to go."
"Go get 'em tiger." I joked and he left. I looked around some more and I saw Elena walk and Elijah saw her too. He went after her and they talked about something. I shrugged it of and soon after that I saw Elijah walk back to the party. After a while nothing interesting was happening and I remember mother's note. I walked up the stairs and I immediately smell sage. Mother doesn't want anyone listening in. I knocked the door
"Mother? You wanted to talk to me. Can I come in?" She opened the door and I saw Elena stand there, shocked
"Mother? Are you--" Elena looked at me doubtfully
"Yes." I say and mother looks at me
"Have the two of you met?"
"Yes, briefly." I nod and mother closes the door behind me
"And she doesn't know?" Mother asked
"Nobody knew. I didn't want anyone to take special precautions because I was born a Mikaelson." I looked at Elena and back to mother
"But I see you already have a visitor. I'll come back later."
"No, dear. You can stay. You can hear this too." I nodded and I sat down in the couch next to Elena and mother sat herself next to me
"Like I told Elena, nature has punished me for turning my family in vampires."
"What?"
"There's a way to undo the evil I created. I unbalanced things. There wasn't a real problem, until your siblings began to feed on human blood." She says to me
"But to do what I'm planning to do, I need your help. Both of yours." She looked at me and Elena
"I love my children and I know you love your siblings just as much, Cassandra. I betrayed nature when I created you. It wasn't a problem until the others started feeding on humans, killing them. It's my duty to kill them."
"What?! You can't be serious, mother!" I tried to keep calm, but my patience was fading away
"I am. You, Cassandra, are the only one who didn't fed of a human being. Nature doesn't see you as an abomination. If I'm correct you even still have your powers?"
"Yes, I do."
"You're the only witch that kept her powers when you were turned into a vampire."
"I'm the only one. There's no one who can be exactly like me. You can't be a werewolf and a witch. If you have the gene and you're a witch, you're powers die from the moment you kill a person. Am I correct?"
"Yes, what are you trying to say, Cassandra." I let my eyes talk and I show my green eyes and they gasp
"I found a way. Remember what you told me? A special bite could be the way for me to be this girl."
"I did say that once, but I never thought you'd go and try to find a way to be like this."
"I didn't. I was running from my own family. During that run I found them. I didn't want the bite. Especially when I knew it would turn me. It happened. I couldn't help it. I still don't want it, but I can't do anything about it. I just need to except it."
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have made you run, but I still think that's the best thing you could have done."
"I don't blame you, mother, I just meant I don't wish this on anyone. Let's get back on the part where you want me to help you kill my siblings."
