82. Private talk with Kol

"Was that your boyfriend?" I turned to Kol who's standing outside the window.
"No, he's just a friends. What are you doing here, Kol?"
"I don't trust you."
"You don't trust me? You've got to be kidding me, Kol."
"You would never steal someone's home and since I can't get inside, you're keeping the owner somewhere." Kol smirked
"I'm the owner, but why don't you come inside, Kol?"
"You have to know that's not how this thing works." I open the window and I pull him inside.
"Believe me now?"
"How did you do that?"
"It's a spell."
"You know a witch who can do that?"
"Yes. A very powerful one."
"I can see that." I hand him my hand and help him up
"You've changed, sister."
"I know. That's what aging does with a person."
"You haven't aged. You even became younger. How old are you supposed to be? You don't look a lot older than me."
"I'm in the body of a 16 year old. More or less your age."
"You can say that, but to be honest, I liked your older self better."
"Really? Why?"
"Because if I said older sister, people didn't doubt."
"Sorry to have ruined your life." I joked and he laughed with me
"So, Cass, Who was that on the phone?"
"A friend."
"The friend?" Kol smirked
"No, a friend, why so curious, brother?"
"No reason. I just want to know why you want to go back if you can stay here and be with your family."
"During the years I've learned to love others like family, but I never forgot about you." Kol looked at me like he searched for something
"You don't believe me, do you?"
"No. No, I don't, but I guess you don't have any proof, do you?" I thought about the necklace
"I do, I just thought that you'd remember me and I didn't have to show it."
"You know, I never trusted my sister either."
"Yeah, but that's because you're my little brother, Kol. I used to tease you, but I think that's what big sisters do. Finn and Elijah used to do the same to me. Only Nick never dared to tease me, he went after poor little Rebekah."
"Yeah, I remember." Kol smiled
"Wait here, please." I ran upstairs and grabbed my lucky charm out of my bag and I ran back downstairs.
"Here, for if you still don't believe me." I showed him the necklace and his expression changed. He came towards me and hugged me
"I never thought I'd see my favorite sister again." He said and I hugged him back
"I missed you too, Kol." He let go of me and smiled
"Sorry and don't tell anyone that I did that. As youngest brother I have to keep up my reputation." I laughed
'Don't worry. I won't tell anyone that you told me you missed me."
"You're so gonna make me regret that hug, aren't you?"
"Of course I am!"  I joke
"No, I won't tell. That's something between us, but can I at least tell Rebekah that I'm your favorite sister?" Kol laughed and we both fell in the couch
"This is what I missed about our family."
"What? Me?"
"Yes, Kol, you. No, I mean the meaningless talks."
"I've missed it too, mostly the ones with you."
"With me?"
"Yeah, I haven't had so much fun since you--"
"What are you doing, Kol?"
"What do you mean?"
"Why are you acting like this? I've been gone for a long while, but you're not like this."
"I'm just bored. Come home, Cass."
"Mother sent you, didn't she?"
"No! Of course not." he said exaggerating
"She did. I'm not coming. I'm going home at the end of summer. Unless you already want me to leave, because my home isn't in Mystic falls anymore."
"Your home is where your family is, and your entire family is here in Mystic falls."
"Through the years, I've made another family. A family of friends. And while I was afraid to come across one of you, they were there for me."
"I think I should leave again. And just to be clear, even though I was exaggerating earlier, you are my favorite family member." Kol left my home and it was quiet again. Mother's up to something I can feel it.

The next day I get dressed and quickly do my hair and make-up. I decide to walk and I start to walk towards my destination.
"Cassandra! You're right on time. I was just about to ask someone to come and get you." Mother says happily
"On time for what?"
"We're having a party tonight."
"Really? Why?"
"To start our existence as a real family."
"We might be related, mother, but we'll never be a real family. Not anymore."
"I'd still like you to come to the party, Cassandra."
"Sure, I'll be at the party, but I won't live here. This is the Mikaelson's house now and ever since you made me leave, my name's Cassandra Sky Nightingale and there's no way I'm turning it back to what it was."
"I understand that, Cassandra. Here's your invitation." I took the envelop out of mother's hand, but when I tried to open it, she stopped me
"Keep the opening of the envelop for when you're home." Something's up, I can see it in her eyes
"Sure, you're right. Somewhere I should go right now."
"You can stay and take your preparations here."
"I don't have any clothes here."
"We can order."
"Sure, but I have something at home I'd like to wear."
"Really? What?"
"A special piece of jewelry. You'd might recognize it."
"Is it--"
"Yes."
"What are you talking about?"
"That's something between us, right, Cassandra?"
"Of course, mother." I smiled. Now I'm sure, something's definitely off. I went back home and I open the envelop. It's just an invitation. I turn it around and I see mother attached something on the back

My dear Cassandra,
I didn't expect to see you.
