Elsa pulled up to the school parking lot. Anna hopped out excitedly. "Bye Elsa!" The two words were said so quickly they sounded like one.
Elsa gave a little wave. "Bye," she said quietly.
She went straight for her locker.
A boy was standing there. He was scrawny and he was looking around for someone. He smiled when he saw her. "Hi Elsa!"
She returned the grin, "Hey Olaf."
Olaf was Elsa's only friend in the school, besides Anna of course. Olaf was very small. He was probably only 5 foot tall with arms as thin as twigs. His brown hair was messy today and sticking up in all kinds of angles.
"What's up?" Elsa asked.
"I came here to warn you. And because I love you, I insist you run."
"Why?"
"Hans is out to get you," Olaf whispered. "I heard about something to do with lunch time, so I insist you leave before then."
"I have finals in classes today after lunch, Olaf. I have to stay for those."
Olaf sighed in defeat. "I warned you. Just be careful." Olaf scooted into the crowd rushing by her locker and was sucked out of sight.
Elsa thought about his warning. Maybe she could eat lunch in the library. That was always her safe haven. She grabbed her books and shut her locker when Hans's face was right there.
"Ahh!" She said, dropping some of her books.
"Oh Elsa, still clumsy I see." He spoke.
"W-what do you want, Hans?"
"You owe me."
"I don't owe you anything."
"For yesterday."
"Oh yeah, how'd that go? Finally get all cleaned up? I see the sweatshirt isn't tied around your waist anym-"
"Shut up!" He clamped his hand over her mouth. "I will get you back for that!"
"I was just getting you back for stealing my math work!"
"Oh! Is that what this is about? If it makes you feel any better, that was very helpful, thanks."
"No, it doesn't." Elsa answered.
"Anyway, you still owe me, or I will make your life miserable."
Elsa rolled her eyes, "Okay, Mr. Doom."
He gave her a toothy grin. "You just wait and see." He walked off and was gone, like he hadn't even been near her locker.

At lunch she peeked around the corner so see Hans and his gang looking for someone. Most presumably, her.
Instead of going to the lunch room, she scurried to the bathroom, hoping he hadn't seen her. Wrong move. "There!"
Out of the corner of her eye she saw a boy with Hans pointing at her. Hans glared and started for her. She ducked in the bathroom. "Shoot!" She cursed herself and went in to see it was empty. Thank the heavens!
Elsa thought about calling Anna, but she was in class and it would only worry her. Olaf had gone home sick earlier and Elsa wished she had done the same. She scrolled through her contacts and her eyes landed on Jack's name. No! What could he do to help her?
Hans knocked on the door, "Elsa, you can't stay in there forever!"
"Yes I can!" Elsa yelled back.
Having no one else to turn to, she pressed send.

Jack was in Biology when his phone rang. He pulled it out of his pocket and glanced at the number. The teacher looked at him coldly. Jack cringed. The rule was that if your phone rang in class, you had to answer it on speaker. Everyone looked at him amused and Jack wished he was as invisible as he usually was. He answered it and turned it on speaker.
"Hello? I'm in class, so could you please-"
"Jack, help!" Elsa sounded desperate.
"What? Why!"
"I'm about to be murdered in cold blood!"
"I'm sure that's an exaggeration," Jack said, cautiously looking around the room and the judging glances.
"No! No exaggeration. That guy I told you about has me locked in the bathroom. He's waiting for me to come out!"
The teacher looked worried now. She ushered to Jack to leave the room. He let his breath out in relief and quickly went to the hallway.
"What do you want me to do about it?"
"Ideas! I need ideas! What should I do?!"
Jack ran his hands through his hair, thinking. "Why are you coming to me for? Surely there's someone else closer who could help you!"
There was a pause. "Elsa?"
"No. I don't really have many friends."
Now Jack paused before he said, "That's surprising."
"Really?"
"You became my friend pretty quick. I was sure you were one of the most popular girls in school."
"I'm y-your friend?"
"Of course!" He said like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Now, listen to me..."

Elsa listened to Jack closely. It was going to be close, but what other choice did she have?
"Thanks Jack," she said, ending the call. She got a pen and a piece of paper out of her bag and started scribbling a message onto it.
