Beep. Beep. Beep.

Gosh. Enough with that obnoxious noise. I rolled over and placed my pillow over my head.

"Emily. Honey. Why aren't you up yet?" Demi asked as she walked into my room.

"It's too early. Just let me sleep." I told her.

"Honey, we have..."

"Another busy day ahead of us", I interrupted her.

She nodded her head and said "come on, sit up. I'll help you get ready."

"I don't need help Demi. This is your life, not mine. Why should I have to fucking trail around with you all day? It's not fair."

"Honey, you're 11. I don't think it's a good idea to leave you at the hotel all day by yourself." She said.

"Almost 12 and what kind of trouble do you think I'm going to get into?"

"It's not that."

"Oh, I know. It's my fucking self-harm, isn't it?"

She put her hand over her face, sighed, then said "Emily..."

"Relax, I'm not going to do anything." I told her.

"Honey, let's sit down at the table and try to talk a little bit calmer, alright?"

"I couldn't get much calmer." I folded my arms.

She gently grabbed my arm and led me to the kitchen table.

"Sit down, honey. I already poured you some coffee."

I sat down and sipped on the coffee.

"Can I please stay here?" I asked her.

She sighed.

"Stay in the hotel room, alright?" She finally said.

"I have a key card." I told her.

"Stay in this hotel room, understood?"

"Understood." I mumbled.

"Alright, I have to go. There's pop tarts in the cabinet and cereal. Eat something. I love you Emily." She said as she hugged me.

"Love you too." I replied.

Of course I'm not going to eat anything. Who does she think I am?

I waited five minutes after she walked out the door before grabbing my key card and heading out the door.

I walked to the Starbucks just down the street of the hotel.

"Hey." I said to the cute guy holding the door for me.

"What's up. You lookin' mega fine."

"Thanks, but don't ever say that again." I flashed him a smile.

"Can I buy you a cup of coffee?" He asked.

"Black, no sugar." I told him.

I sat down on one of the comfortable black chairs and waited for him.

"So, what's your name?" He asked as he handed me my coffee.

"Emily. What's yours?" I asked him.

"Alex. When's your birthday?" He asked.

"I was born January 24, 2007."

"Are you kidding?"

"No, why?" I said as I almost choked on my coffee.

"That's my birthday."

"Oh, my."

"We're literally destined to be together." He said.

I smiled and replied with "guess so, so what do you do for fun?"

"Mostly read. I also enjoy writing and music."

"Who's your favorite artist?" I asked him.

"I really like Demi Lovato. You could call me a lovatic."

"Oh my gosh, Demi's my mom."

"Really?" Yeah.

"Was your mom meeting you here?"

"No, why?" I asked him.

"She's coming in the door right now." I pointed at her.

"Oh, crap." I slid off the chair, so I was under the table.

I watched as he got off the chair and started talking to her.

Oh, crap. Oh, crap. He's pointing at me.

"Hi." I said as Demi kneeled down beside me.

"Emily."

"You sold me out, Alex."

"I didn't know that you weren't supposed to be here." He said.

"You didn't catch that by me hiding underneath the table. Guess we're not destined to be together after all."

I walked out the door as Demi follow me.

"He's a great boy, but Emily, do you know how dangerous this was?" She asked.

I didn't respond.

"This streets are so busy. You could've gotten hit."

"If a car flew off the street. I didn't cross any streets." I replied.

"Honey, I told you to stay at the hotel."

"So, what are you going to do to me now? Take me back?"

"No, I think it's a good idea for you to hang out with me for the rest of the day."

"O... kay." I replied.

"First off, I think we should go back to Starbucks. Alex is really a great guy. You should talk to him a little more."

"Uhh no."

"Emily, honey. Give him a chance. He didn't know that you weren't supposed to be here." She stared at me.

"Fine." I shoved past her and we walked back into Starbucks.

"Hey, we might of gotten off to a bad start."

"That's okay. You forgot your coffee."

I smiled and sat down across from him. Demi got her coffee, then sat at a table nearby.
