Blackness surrounded me, shadows of terrifying shapes moving, silently snarling with a flash of pearly teeth. My body was led, numb and heavy. My brain throbbed.

A bright flash blinded me for a moment, and then a warm golden glow crept forward, chasing the dark shadows away. It lit up the dark, surrounding me in a honey colored sea of warmth, before falling in on me. The liquid light covered my body, soothing me for a moment more.

That was when the pain started. The light burned my bruised skin, snapped my broken arm into place, loosing a painful cry. My head, it seemed, was the worst; the light seemed to swirl around the top of my crown, wrapping tightly around it, seeming to squeeze and pull on my skull. A silent scream left my lips. I tried to lash out, but something was restraining me.

"Why... can't... I... move?" I shouted, hands fisting and toes curling.

In all one moment, the light fizzed out, leaving me in a red blackness.

"She's coming around. You really did a number on her, sister. What were you thinking?" someone scolded above me; the voice was rich, warm, and soothing.

"I was thinking she'd dodge.... And, in my defense, she provoked me."

Ah. The toothpick.

"Gerilynn, Gia, why does she have kitty ears?" a young boy's voice questioned; something brushed lightly against my ear, and I mewled in annoyance at the itch it caused.

I rolled over to block out the sound, face pressing into the ground, and mumbled a few incoherent phrases.

"Did she just ask for a rainbow with extra anchovies?" the boyish voice questioned, alarmed.

"That'll be the concussion talking... Or the after-effects, anyway. As I said, she should wake up in a moment or two," the first male answered, vaguely concerned.

"I want... I want...a... leprechaun," I slurred, tongue heavy in my mouth.

The boy squealed eagerly,"Are you sure you healed it all up correctly, brother? Maybe I could have a go!"

"No, Shane. The last time you did that, you turned the poor man's brain to mush." The first male spoke firmly and with a ring of finality to his tone.

Regardless of his denial, my body finally woke up and sprang to action, hiding behind Kakashi, conveniently located nearby.

"NO! No brain mush!" I wailed. "No more honey light!" I pushed Kakashi in front of me, "Take him instead!"

"Eh... What now?" Kakashi questioned sharply, hands up in front of him defensively. "I'd rather not ... At least not today. ...Just got a new book..." He gave his famous close-eyed smile at that.

"Honey light, huh?"

My eyes darted to the man who spoke; he was tall, taller than Kakashi, but more filled out and built. His striking blonde hair was pulled back into an eccentric, spiky ponytail.

"Yeah, it was some bad mamajamma..." I mumbled at him, completely serious.

"Okay... Maybe you should let me have a look at her, Gia. Just to be safe," Gerilynn stated, cautiously approaching me.

My eyes widened into saucers, the snarling fangs of a panther flashing behind my eyes.

"No..." I squeaked, pushing Kakashi in front of me as a meat shield.

She grinned evilly, cackling like a witch- and was it just me, or was she turning green?

"Yes."

"No!" I spat, teeth elongating, puffy tail swishing with agitation.

That was when all hell broke loose.
