~In which the members make a trade~

Ever since the boys had learned of the trauma that Nana had faced as a child a few days ago, they were constantly thinking of ways to reassure her that they were always there for her. Contrary to what many would think, Nana wasn't exactly the most open person. Although she was social and brutally honest, she wasn't an open book: there were a lot of parts of her they had yet to discover. Her revealing her deepest scar, both literally and figuratively, was just the beginning. With that huge obstacle out of the way, it was like the dams were broken down and there was a sudden flood that nobody knew how to stop, most of all the girl in question.

She didn't like it. Before she told them, they would mess around and treat each other as any siblings would. They all made fun of each other, and although there was a physical barrier between them, they didn't really let that stop them. They definitely didn't go easy on her just because she was a girl, despite having soft spots for her. In fact, it seemed as if Yoongi took time out of his day just to roast her relentlessly, to which she'd respond with just as bitter insults (all in good fun, of course).

Now, it was like they were all treading on eggshells. They were either afraid of setting her off, didn't know how to respond to her, or tried too hard to be the way they were before. The boys never really registered that their behavior had changed–they were preoccupied with their plans to comfort her–but Nana felt it all in excruciatingly high definition. While they thought to show their love, all she saw was them acting differently, and not a good different. She was worried, to put it lightly, that after knowing the true her, they had decided she wasn't worthy to be with them. As irrational as it was, she wasn't exactly in a rational state of mind, and so her depressing thoughts kept on circling around and around her head...

Suddenly, a hand appeared out of the darkness. To be specific, it was a hand that belonged to none other than resident child, Kim Taehyung.

It was right before a show. Nana was running around, freaking out and checking under everything. The others had already started to head out, but one stayed behind to ask, "What are you looking for?"

"My earring, I can't believe I lost it, stylist-eonnie is going to kill me..." she rambled.

An idea struck him, and it was as if a lightbulb had appeared above his head, "here take this!" He carefully took out one of his long, dangly earrings and passed it to her. He was left with a short earring on his right, and a long chain on his left. She looked similar, with a short ring looped on to her left ear and the matching chain on her right.

They looked in the mirror, smiling at their choice. They looked better than they had with the complete set on their ears, and so they made their way to join the rest of the members.

It was almost like she performed better than ever before. The comforting feeling of her earring weighing softly down on her right somehow helped her to erase all of her negative feelings, and she was left only with the adrenaline and happiness that performing left her with. The others noticed too, making sure to note that her and Tae's accessories were the same.

That's how it all started: the earring swap. Sometimes it'd be one of Yoongi's badass, usually black, ones, or it'd be Jin's right half of the set (since his are only left piercings), Namjoon's simple ones, Jimin's shorter dangly ones, Tae's long statement earrings, or one of Kook's eight piercings. Hobi, not to be left out, often bought matching rings so that him and Nana could have something without the need of piercings. (This, again, started another tradition of everybody getting matching rings or necklaces to share with not just Nana, but each other.)

Having objects that belonged to her family, her brothers, gave her strength. No longer was she thinking the same pitiful thoughts or feeling as if she wasn't loved or appreciated. Now, she was completely reassured that they were always there for her, and liked to let them know that she was always there for them, too. And as an added bonus, they looked really good.

But what would be complete without ARMY? They, with nothing but time and thousands of eyes, were quick to notice the small interactions, which only made their hearts melt even more for these eight wonders

But what would be complete without ARMY? They, with nothing but time and thousands of eyes, were quick to notice the small interactions, which only made their hearts melt even more for these eight wonders. They also began to think of various reasons why they had started this new ritual: could it be that the matching earrings belonged to those who were dating? Was it symbolic of them as a couple? Of course, most of these theories were about dating, typical of any fan. Some connected it to the viral theory from a week ago, but those were usually ignored in favor of the more romantic stories of a forbidden love, expressed only by the decorations the members wore.

Sorry this is such a trashy chapter... I had the idea, but I've failed you smh
