ALEXA

Monday 10, December

"Why the heck are all these people in our house?" I hissed at Isabelle, after I pulled her aside in the only abandoned hallway.

It was only the day after I had returned from Kat's country, and everything seemed haywire within the Palace already.

She scoped out my outfit and her forehead wrinkled, "I think you might need to change. Dad's got a shit ton of other royals in the palace today for a conference. It's about law amendment."

It was like a lightbulb went off above my head, and I didn't care that she had underhandedly criticized my pajamas.

"We have to go to the conference Belle! This is our only chance at getting to change the laws!" I whisper-yelled, as another unfamiliar person strolled nearby, heading towards the conference room.

Isabelle's eyes brightened at the idea and she peered around the corner in the direction of the conference room.

"You go get dressed, I'd try to finesse our way into sitting in on this meeting."

"Got it." I chirped, pulling her in for a quick embrace.

"No time for being mushy, it's go time!" She exclaimed, pulling away from the hug.

I almost bumped into one of Father's guest as I dashed towards the staircase.

"Sorry!" I yelled over my shoulder.

I had just broken like three Princess rules, this conference is about to be a task.

"Now you sit there and stay quiet," Father growled, "You're lucky I'm letting you both sit in."

It was a day after I had returned from Kat's country, and this was the first time I was seeing him. He didn't seem very cheery that I was back at home.

Isabelle took a seat beside me and gave me the once over and beamed.

"Now that's more I like it, how pretty you look in dresses."

I completely ignored her and nudged her arm, "Where the heck were you?"

She gestured at the round table full of important royal guests, "I was socializing."

"You were sucking up to the guests so they'd be on our side," I said, wriggling my brows.

An uncharacteristic grin formed on her face, confirming my assumptions.

"Well let's hope it wasn't all in vain,"  I whispered, having to lower my voice as father stood suddenly, calling everyone's attention to him.

"Welcome all to to the Tri-Annual Amendment Conference," He announced, gesturing to his table-full of guests.

"Let's just get this started, I'm hungry!" A voice cut in.

"Same," I snickered, unable to keep my amusement to a minimum.

Isabelle elbowed me in the gut and I had to bite my fist to stifle the groan that threaten to escape.

Luckily the individual at the table's outburst had caused everyone to discuss amongst themselves. There was a low murmuring emitting from the group, and Father looked on irritatedly.

After a few minutes, he clapped his hands, drawing the attention back to him.

"Has anyone have any laws they'd like to review?"

He was left with complete silence. Only the sound of the grandfather clock upon the wall, and the roar of the fireplace could have been heard then.
