The clock struck ten as I climbed into bed,
But I could not silence the voices in my head,
Persuading me to trade my slumber for another,
Restless night of tossing and turning under my cover,

But I am done exchanging dreams for more,
Terrifying nightmares that are impossible to ignore,
I don't know if reality is scarier than sleeping,
But I know that it's better than my midnight weeping,

My body is still and my mind is disturbed,
But my steady heart is astoundingly unperturbed,
And the monsters that once corrupted my brain,
Can no longer feast on my vanishing pain.
