As much as yesterday had confused me, I decided to not ask questions as Mr. Roth seems to be the sort of man to do whatever he pleases, damn the consequences. It surprised me when one minute I was being a waitress, and the next I was on a locomotive, no explanations at all.

Before that, I had seen Jacob, though I remained quiet the whole time I was in his presence. I could tell that he looked over at me while I was pouring his drink, as if he was trying to work out who I was but came up empty handed. A part of me wanted to say something, to ask him how he knows me, but another part of me remembers what my father had said to me. I'm conflicted, confused, I want to know things, but I am afraid of the answer. I've had a few flashbacks recently, but all they raise is more questions than answers.

"(Name) my dear, you've gone quiet." I hear someone say, bringing me out of my thoughts.

"Apologies, Mr. Roth. I am just thinking of a few things, that's all." I said after seeing who it is.

"Ah well, nothing a bit of work can't fix. Nothing like a good distraction to cease whatever it is you're thinking of."

"I assume Mr. Frye is coming again today?"

"But of course." Nothing more was said as he walked off to somewhere else in the theatre. A part of me feels like he is hiding so much, but it isn't exactly my place to question what that is. With nothing else to do, I simply let out a sigh and decided to work for a bit. The place was rather empty, so I can already tell that the day was going to be a slow one. It wasn't long later when I heard someone enter and felt someone tap me on the shoulder.

"Excuse me, love." A voice spoke, his voice. I felt myself freeze up at the sound. 'Why is he talking to me when he should be speaking to Mr. Roth? I can't let him know it's me, no matter how many questions I have for him. I don't even know if I want to find out, though I part of me yearns to find out, to know why he's familiar to me, to know who I am to him.'

"Mr. Frye, I believe Mr. Roth is over towards the other entrance." As I spoke, I purposely tried to change my voice, hoping he wouldn't recognise it's me. Of course, I was wearing a mask, courtesy of Mr. Roth, so he can't see my face, but still.

"Actually, I was hoping to speak to you for a few moments. There's something about you that seems familiar to me, and yet I have no idea who you are. Might you enlighten me over a drink?" I noticed how he spoke rather softly, as if he didn't want to scare me away. The sound ignited something in me as something familiar came to mind.

Flashback

"You're not going soft on me now, are you Jacob?" I asked in a teasing tone.

"Me, being soft? In your dreams love."

"Only you, Mr. Frye, only you." I couldn't help but giggle at how we were acting, to which Jacob laughed just a bit as well. Honestly, it sounded like music to my ears.

End of flashback

I quickly shook my head and glanced around the place and saw that it was still empty, so I couldn't use customers as an excuse to not indulge him. I also remember father's words of having to stay away from the assassins and how I said I would, but I already broke that the moment I decided to go out and find Jacob. Although I had no intention of talking to him, but merely observe him. I thought he had caught me that day, but he didn't seem to.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Frye, but I do believe Mr. Roth is waiting for you." Just as I was about to turn around and walk away, I felt his hands wrap around my waist. I gasped at the feeling as another familiar thing came to mind.

Flashback

"You're not going to lose me." Nothing else was said as I enjoyed the comforting feeling from his hands around my waist as I looked into his eyes and he looked into mine.

End of flashback

I slightly stumbled from what I saw and, just before I could make a fool of myself and trip over my own feet, Jacob wrapped his arms fully around me and pulled me close to his body.

"Are you alright?" He said, and I could hear the concern in his voice. I looked up into his eyes, and I felt as if I couldn't breathe. His eyes, so beautiful yet so captivating at the same time. Nothing else was said as we simply stared at one another. I feel as if this isn't the first time where this happened, and another flashback comes to mind as I think this.

Flashback

"I'm so glad that you were the one who saved me. Thank you, Jacob." I said as a few tears fell down my cheeks. Jacob lifted his hand and brushed the tears away. He then placed his hand on my cheek and caressed it as he looked deeply into my eyes.

"I'm just happy that you're back, you have no idea how much I missed you." His words were nothing more than a whisper. As he looked into my eyes, I noticed how he glanced at my lips, I could see the temptation in his eyes. He begins to lean in closer, and I couldn't help but do the same. Before I knew it, our lips were so very close to one another's, I could feel his breath upon my lips.

End of flashback

My eyes widened at what I saw, leaving me with more questions. I subconsciously found myself raising my hand and placing it on his cheek, slowly caressing it as I do so. I could see his eyes widen in confusion, but he made no move to stop me. Perhaps he was too shocked at the sudden turn of events? I couldn't exactly tell as he looked at me with different emotions.

"Just who am I to you, Jacob?" I whispered as quietly as I could while I looked into his eyes, trying so hard to find any sort of answer. I yearn for this man, but I can't seem to understand why. He's familiar to me, and yet I don't recall having anything to do with him. But these flashbacks of mine contradict that, causing me to feel confused. I closed my eyes as I could feel a headache coming on. Bringing with it yet another flashback.

Flashback

"I might've followed Jacob from a distance." I said to an unfamiliar man and woman, yet there was something familiar about them.

"What?" The man said.

"(Name), why were you doing that, exactly?"

"I...I got curious as to what he was doing. And...I kinda wanted to be by his side...as stupid as that sounds..." My cheeks burned in embarrassment as I admitted the truth.

End of flashback

"Whatever I thought that could've been was no more than a simple dream." I found myself whispering out as I felt my eyes growing heavy and my body beginning to go limp. It was a good thing I was still in Jacob's arms, or else I would've fallen to the floor.

"Hey, are you alright?" I heard him ask again. I tried to answer, but it was proving to be a challenge. My hand dropped from his face and to the side of my body. The last thing I saw was the concerned look on Jacob's face before I closed my eyes and welcomed the darkness.
