Sovereign- Supreme in power; possessing supreme dominion; Supreme; superior to all others; chief.

John 2:7-9 NLT

Jesus told the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” When the jars had been filled, he said, “Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.” So the servants followed his instructions. When the master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants knew), he called the bridegroom over.

In the gospels, Jesus has four descriptors: Matthew, the King; Mark, the Servant; Luke- the Man; and John, the eagle. Why an eagle? Eagles have always been symbollically attributed to sovereignty and power. Rightly so, throughout the Book of John, Jesus displays his sovereignty of matter (i.e.turning water into wine), the powers of the kingdom of darkness, death, and the grave itself. Because everything that was created was created by Him and everything is held together by Him, He has no problem controlling and bring under subjection everything in this world.
