Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.
Interesting! I've actually wondered before, 'How do you know if the things the disciples wrote in the Epistles (Letters) are accurate?' Here's our answer. Part of Jesus' resurrection was to open the minds of the disciples concerning the Scriptures. This is why they constantly comment or refer back to Old Testament prophecy in their writings. Jesus had opened their understanding. They were officially “grade A” Bible Teachers.
Their words are right and they're true. He not only opened their minds at that moment to understand things about him, but He kept their minds opened so that they could fulfill his charge: "Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature."
