I groaned as I woke up, feeling the bus was still on the move.

Ugh.... Why so much distance between towns..... Not like Florida's that big anyway.....

I looked down, seeing Briar was still asleep, her back to me as she was facing the window.

We spent a few extra days in South Florida due to some thunderstorms, so some shows had to be pushed back a bit.

Briar's fever finally broke a little, which is good. She's been stuck like that for 2 days. Thankfully she'll be back for the show in Tallahassee.

She is still a little fatigued, so I'm letting her sit out the show in Tampa tonight to regain her strength.

I smiled as I held her close to me.

I pulled the window curtain back and saw it was raining.

I took a deep breath and let my eyes close for a little.

"I always loved rain..." a small voice spoke and I opened my eyes and looked to see Briar was awake.

"Its not as rainy in Pennsylvania in most days," she said, looking out in the rain reaching her hand to trace a falling raindrop with the tips of her fingers. "Back in Florida, it would rain so much, sometimes even for days, almost nonstop.... It was always strange to me, since its known as the Sunshine State... Either way, it always calmed me... Especially at night..."

I smiled softly and pulled her close to me, spooning her as I rested my cheek on her's. "Did you like it?"

She was quiet for a few seconds. "Sometimes... Humidity there made it so unbearable, especially afterwards... At least rain in Pennsylvania is breathable compared to Florida's..." she said.

I smiled as I held her, then reached over and taking her hand as she traced the raindrops on the glass.

I then saw her sleeve ride up and the scar peeked out a bit.

I pulled her hand closer and examined it.

"Hey, uhh, what happened there?" I decided to ask, keeping my voice low.

I suddenly felt her tense up in my arms.

"Bri?" I asked, looking down.

"Uhhh, I...." She stuttered softly, then sighed  "I was, ummm... It was a really bad car accident in my freshman year of high school....."

My eyes widen at her words.

"It was me and.... M-My foster dad at the time.... Thankfully we survived, but we got hit pretty bad..... I needed surgery here to fix a bone that got shattered by this big piece of glass that got stuck there.... A miracle I could even move my hand at all after that...." she explained.

"Oh fuck...." I winced.

"Yeah.... My foster father needed surgery on his leg and neck, too.... Some drunk idiot in a pickup ate a red light on us one night while we went to get groceries, t-boned our car..... It was so scary, and....." she mumbled, curling up a bit.

"Hey, hey... Its okay...." I mumbled as I held her close. "I'm sorry... I shouldn't have asked."

"N-No...." She said, looking back at me as she rolled over onto her back. "Its okay.... I figured eventually I had to tell you anyway..."

I frowned as I looked down at her.

I can't imagine how scary that must have been for her....

She looked up at me before leaning up and softly kissing me.

I relaxed a little and kiss her back, wrapping my arms around her.
