I'll Wait For You

I watched that day,

As they dragged her away

They begged them to let her go,

Yet they ignored her demands so

I could only stand and watch as the tears rolled down my face,

I was too weak to move, I could hardly use the pole beside me as my standing brace

She had done nothing wrong, it wasn't fair,

Why do they only watch and stare?

"Wait for me!" I heard her call. "Promise me!"

"I promise!" I called back, her shrinking figure was all I could see

It felt as if time had stopped,

And all the surrounding air had dropped

My chest felt tight,

My heart was sick from fright

I saw her get thrown into a truck so carelessly,

Thrown in so harmfully

I watched as she was taken right before my eyes,

All I could hear were my own cries

And one other thing, her last heard words echoing so harshly in my head,

"Wait for me!" and I promised, and I'll promise until I'm dead
