Whisper sat next to Evangeline on the couch, her hands clenched in her lap.

"I'm sorry about all the bad things I did."

.

Evangeline sat in the corner of the couch, facing Whisper.

"Was it you that wrecked the house?"

.

Whisper nodded. "I was mad."

.

"About what, honey?"

.

Whisper was silent for a moment, looking down at her hands.

.

Evangeline leaned forward.

"Whisper? You can talk to me, honey."

.

Whisper looked up at her, with sad eyes.

"I was afraid that I would lose you to Daddy. That Daddy would forget about me."

.

Evangeline shook her head.

"How could you even think that?"

.

"Well. You are real and me ...

well, look at me."

.

Evangeline hugged Whisper, as best she could.

"Whisper, you are as real, as anyone I know. How could you believe anything different.

I want to be with Will, but I also want to share with him. I want him to be a part of the things I love and I want to be a part of the things that he loves.

And it is obvious that you are a huge part of the things he loves."

.

Whisper forced a smile.

"Do you think so?"

.

"Sweetie, I thought your Daddy was losing his mind ..."

.

Whisper cut her off, laughing.

"More than a few people thought that of Daddy. Especially, when I was around."

.

Evangeline kissed her forehead.

"I can see why he is so protective of you. You are so special."

.

"I am?"

Whisper started to glow.

.

"Sweetie, there is no one like you in the world.

I mean, look at me. I am sitting here talking to a ghost."

.

"We prefer spirit," Whisper corrected her, "remember?"

.

"Spirit?"

.

Whisper floated off the couch, crossed her legs and faced Evangeline.

"Ghosts always conjure up those old movies with rattling chains and evil ugly things that go bump in the night. We are not like that."

.

Evangeline nodded.

"You are right. And Spirit sounds so much better."
