Peter was extremely distracted this fine Monday morning. I mean, Peter was almost distracted on Mondays, thinking about the weekend he had just spent with Tony or thinking of his plans for the rest of the week.

This Monday, however, was even more distracting, though. He knew that today was the day his mentor, the one and only Tony Stark, was going on mission, and Peter was nervously bouncing his leg, nothing but his mentor's safety on his mind.

"Mr. Parker, is there something distracting you outside?"

Peter was snapped out of his trance by his teacher, who was staring at the teen in question. Peter noticed for the first time that he was spacing out, his eyes fixed on the window.

"What?" Peter stared up at his teacher.

"Is there something outside that you find more interesting that my class?" Mr. Harrington loomed over the teen, and Peter blushed. He hated getting called out in class.

"No, sir," he said.

"Pay attention, please," the old man said, and he continued his lecture. Peter tried to focus, but found himself zoning out again.

He snapped back to reality when the school's intercom came on. "Please make your way to the gym for the assembly, thank you."

Peter got up and fell into line with Ned. Despite the fact that Peter hated assemblies, he was actually pretty happy about this one, since it meant he could zone out more easily.

"What's up with you, man?" Ned's question caught his friend off guard, and Peter didn't register the question at all until Ned put his hand on Peter's shoulder. "Dude?"

"Sorry, I uh..." Peter looked around, making sure no one would hear him, and continued in a whisper. "Mr. Stark is going on mission today, I'm just a little worried about it. I will probably be distracted until he comes back, which could be tonight or a week from now."

"Yikes, man, that's rough. I'm sorry," Ned shot his friend a small, apologetic smile. "You know they're all really well trained though, so you shouldn't worry to much. They'll be fine." Peter nodded at the reassurance, but the words never quite reached his heart, and continued to think of the worst possible outcomes.

Peter was so caught up in his thoughts, he barely noticed that they were already in the gym, settling onto bleachers and waiting for the rest of the school to file in.

"So," Ned says, pulling Peter back to reality again. "What was the mission?"

"Oh, uh..." Peter looked around again. "I think it wasa standard HYDRA bust."

"Standard?"

"Yeah," Peter sighed. "HYDRA has been a pretty regular target lately, they are working on taking it all down, but there are so many bases around the world, every time we think we get them all, another pops up."

Ned nodded along, then his eyes widened. "We? Have you been in on the HYDRA busts without me?"

Peter chuckled nervously, running a hand over the back of his neck. "Yeah, sorry man. The team tries to keep me out of it as much as possible, but sometimes I need to go as backup last minute. I never really have time to call you."

"Last minute?" Ned furrowed his brow. "Why would they call you after they were already there?"

"Usually its because the base is bigger than they thought of someone got hurt."

Ned was about to respond when the lights began to dim and a spotlight came on. The principal moved to the middle of the gym floor, and began to talk about the upcoming dance. He was barely 3 sentences in when Peter's phone vibrated. Peter ignored it, knowing that having phones out at school was a big no no. The vibrating stopped, then started again.

"Overriding silent settings," Karen's voice came from Peter's watch. It was loud enough that most of the kids around Peter looked towards him, but Principal Mortia hadn't heard it.

"Wait, no, Karen, I'm in-" Peter was interrupted by the sound of his phone going off. He knew it was Mr. Stark, given that the ring tone was "Shoot to Thrill" by AC/DC.

"Mr. Parker." Principal Mortia turned to face the teen, who was in the process of leaving his row. "No phones at school, least of all turned up. Bring it to me."

Peter paled. Not only was Mr. Stark calling, a sign that something bad had happened, but now he was being called out in front of the whole school. "It's work, sir, I need to take this."

The principal scoffed. "Ah, yes, you're internship." It was no surprise to Peter that people at his school didn't believe he was the personal intern to Tony Stark, but then again, he had shown them his badge. What more did they want?

"This lie has gone far enough, young man, give me your phone and sit down." Peter's cheeks burned and he gave his phone to the principal, who turned it off and shoved it in his pocket.

"No," the principal continued, only to be interrupted by the teen's phone again.

"Override code inputted, call accepted," Karen stated, and Peter groaned. Leave it to Mr. Stark to override all of Peter's technology. Ned gasped as everyone heard the sound of explosions, gunshots, and chaos on the other end of the phone, which was being held dangerously close to the microphone.

"Hey, Peter, the Quinjet is coming your way. I need you here in an hour," the unmistakable voice of Tony Stark rang through the gym.

Principal Mortia and Peter were holding steady eye contact. The older man eventually caved, and gestured for Peter to come down to the gym floor.

"Peter? Pete? Underoos?"

"Jeez, Mr. Stark, I'm right here," Peter said with an eye roll.

"Tony you mean."

"Never gonna happen."

"How about 'Dad' then?" Tony's voice was joking, but Peter still blushed.

"Oh, my God, Tony, fine! What's up?"

"Suit up, Steve and Clint are down, we need you here in an hour tops. Quinjet should be coming to get you, and Happy will meet you on board with deets." As if on cue, the sound of the plane filled the room.

"Be there in 45, time to finally see how fast that thing can go," Peter smirked, grabbing his phone and ending the call.

"Ned, get on coms after the assembly, I'll need schematics and maps!" Ned nodded, already pulling out his phone. Peter pulled his shirt off, letting his suit become visible. "See you tomorrow!" He shot a web towards the ceiling, making his way to the roof access panel, and onto the jet.

Okay, so maybe the extra identity reveal wasn't necessary, but Peter Parker was never bothered at school again. Oh, and his internship? Was never doubted again.
