I tried to look casual. But I failed.

Nervous is an understatement of the loud throbbing inside my chest. All I can think about is meeting the man I love. My hand is sweating and I'm having cold feeling run down my spine. I can't explain what I feel! It's like I'm excited. I'm nervous. My heart feels like it's about to explode.

I know this might seem exaggerated but this is what I feel. I'm about to meet the man I've been in love with. I'm about to see him again. The man who can make my heart beat wild. The man who can make me happy just by looking at his face. The one man who happens to be my fiancé.

Napangiti ako sa naisip at tumingin sa orasan. We are already at the dining area. Katabi ko si Tita Stela na nasa kanan ko. Sa gitnang lamesa ng long table ay doon naka-upo si Tito Daniel. Sa kaliwa ko naman ay si Mama. We are all here except for my sweetheart. And my dad.

"Albert isn't here. Where is he, Alma?" Rinig kong tanong ni Tito kay Mama. My dad can't come. He has to meet importnat clients.

"I'm sorry, Dan. But my husband needed to close a deal at Minnesota. But don't worry he'll be home tomorrow. And he will directly visit you" Sagot ni Mama.

Muli akong napatingin sa wall clock. It's already 8 pm. Nandito na kami noong 6 pm pa lang. Pero kahit anino ni Luke, wala akong nakikita.

Tinablan ng kaba ang puso ko.

Pagtingin ko kay Tita Stela, I can see her glancing at the time clock too from time to time. "Where's your son, Dan? Bakit wala pa siya?" Mahinanong tanong ni Mama kaya maski ako napatingin rin kay Tito.

Pero natigilan ako nang biglang tumayo si Tita. "Excuse me for a while. I'd like to make some calls" Magalang niyang sabi at tipid na ngumiti tsaka umalis nang tumango si Mama.

Nagbaba ako ng tingin. Luke and I have been involved in an arranged marriage. Ipapakasal ako nila Mama sa nag-iisang anak ng mga Carson para mas lumago ang kumpanya. Because when the Carson and Feraldo group of companies will merge, both the businesses will rank up.

Noong una ayokong pumayag, pero nung nalaman kong si Luke pala ang papakasalan ko, I didn't think twice and accepted it. We are still young, I know. But business is business. Transactions, forced marriage, engagements, and plans needs to be organized and done thoroughly without questioning the authority of the people with power.

This marriage, I'm lucky to have it. I think it is fate that's helping me to have the man I love.

This night, I waited for him.

I waited.

And waited.

Until time moved faster than I imagined and we ate dinner without him. Bakit hindi siya pumunta? He didn't even come to see me.
