Abhaya
"Baby, I'm so proud of you!" My Mother cheerfully yelled as she pulled me into a tight embrace.
The embrace was so compacted; I could feel her heart beating. I'm sure the Channel perfume she had on transferred to my graduation gown. Not that I was complaining, that happened to be one of my favorite scents of hers.
"Thank you, mommy! After four years of hard work, I finally made it." We began to rock from side to side as my head rested against her chest.
The moment felt serene, something my Mother always made me feel when she wasn't her usually overwhelming self. Suddenly, I felt two people wrap their arms around the sides of my body. I knew it was my sister and dad; I laughed a little as I realized the position we were currently standing in.
My immediate family surrounded me with an abundance of hugs, and I couldn't have felt happier.
Today, we placed all our problems on the back burner and pretended like we weren't currently going through a family crisis. I took it all in because I knew that after today life would go back to being chaotic as I dealt with the most unconventional family in the world.
I truly embraced that my family was completely different from other families.
Without their uniqueness, I would have never become the enigmatic and eccentric young woman I am today.
However, our family problems could get a bit out of hand; that's when the problems started to occur.
"My girl is an official graduate of Sandy Woods. High, I'm so proud of you, baby." My father placed a kiss against my temple before pulling me in for another round of breath, halting hugs.
