It was peaceful in the OR. In the desert it was still surgery but with the added stress of a warzone. It was difficult to feel the tranquility of it all. Another suture there, another cauterisation here. All routine and calm. It gave Hanna some time to think.

She had got back and already her head was a little out of it. She had a dilemma:

On the one hand, there was Jackson. Gorgeous, ex-fiancé, life long best friend sort of an ass hat Jackson.

And on the other was Amelia. Gorgeous, ex-lover, closest friend, kind of chaotic Amelia.

The alarm went off and the race to save a life began. Three clamps and a quickly sown suture and the patients blood pressure came back up. Then it was back to tranquility.

She cared about them both dearly so, she didn't really want to do what she had done in the past and take them both out for a spin and see what she likes best. She wanted to pick the right one.

Hanna started to imagine scenarios, of Amelia in the kitchen making breakfast as she woke up ready for work then she swapped her with Jackson and everything still felt normal.
Then kids maybe. With Jackson it'd be easier but that was no reason. They had all lost children before but only Jackson had any currently. Again it wasn't that much of an overwhelmingly factor for her.

Snap out again. This part needed her full attention. Brittle vessels that could do with not popping and intricate systems that would rather not be messed with. Very careful she solved the issue and moved away from the area.

Another question was why she broke it off with Jackson. She needed someone supportive and stable for her. She knew that she couldn't stay with someone who wasn't but then again, she was aware that stable didn't really describe Amelia either.

The truth was starting to come down to apples and oranges. She would just have to chose one. Take a guess or leap or whatever.

Perfectly satisfied, Hanna smiled and looked up to see the happy eyes of Leah Murphy.

"You want to close?" She asked stepping away from the patient, Leah made a surprised face behind her mask, "don't worry. I trust you."

Come on, it's pig or cow Hanna. Just choose.
