Holiday Break

3rd person POV

It was finally Christmas break. The break that everyone wanted.

"Knight to E-5." Harry said.

"Queen to E-5." Ron smirked and his Queen smashed Harry's knight.

"That's totally barbaric!" Hermione exclaimed.

"That's wizard chess." you said to Hermione.

"See you guys have packed." Ron said.

"See you haven't." Hermione replied.

"Change of plans. My parents decided to go to Romania to visit my brother Charlie. He's studying dragons there!" Ron said.

"Dragons?! That's so cool!" you beamed.

"You seem to be fascinated by dragons, Y/N."

"Yes! They are such beautiful creatures. Dangerous but beautiful." you stated.

"You and Charlie will surely get along." Ron spoke.

"Well, since you're staying here, you can help Harry. He's going to the library for information on Nicholas Flamel." Hermione said.

"We've looked hundred times!" Ron stated.

"Not in the restricted section." Hermione replied.

"Who are you and what happened to Hermione Granger?" you joked.

"Anyways, we best get going, Y/N. The train is going to leave soon." Hermione said.

Y/N POV

Me and Hermione had finally found a compartment just for us. We settled in and talked about what we're going to do during the break.

"So Y/N, how are you going to head back to America?" Hermione asked.

"I'm taking the Floo Network." I replied.

"Oh! I've read about them!"

"Oh course you did." I giggled.

"I'm surprised the network is connected to the one in America." Hermione said.

"I am too. Oh I got you something!"

"You did? But it's not even Christmas yet."

"I know but I want to see your reaction. Here." I said as I handed her, her present. I got her the book "Fantastic Beast and Where to Find them."

I got all my friends something for Christmas. For Ron, I got him a bunch of sweets. For Harry, I got him a journal. For Fred and George, I got them some supplies for pranking. For Julie, I got her a new pair of earrings. And lastly, for Draco, I got him a ring with a snake on it.

"Thank you, Y/N! I've been meaning to get this!" she beamed.

"Anything for a friend." I smiled.

"Well, since you already gave me my present, I'll give you your present." she said and handed me my present. I opened it to see a bag.

"It's an enchanted bag."

"It's awesome Mione! Thank you!" I said and gave her a hug.

"No problem Y/N." she said as the train stopped. "Looks like we're here. Happy Christmas, Y/N."

"Happy Christmas, Mione."

"Y/N!" I heard a voice called. I opened my eyes to see that I was back in my living.

"Mom!" I called out as I ran up to her and hugged her.

"I miss you sweetie."

"I miss you too."

"Hey, are you forgetting about me?" I heard an other voice called.

"Of course I missed you too dad." I said and hugged him.

"Where's Zach?" I asked.

"Oh he's out of some friends. He'll be back before supper." my dad replied.

"Go get unpacked sweetie." my mom said. I nod and head to my room.

I quickly unpacked everything. I didn't pack that much. I head back downstairs to see Zach.

"Sis!" he beamed and hugged me.

"Look at you! You've grown in the past month." I chuckled.

"Well duh. You don't expect me to be the same. Anyways, how's it being a witch?" he asked.

"How did you find out?" I asked.

"Come on. You don't expect to keep it a secret from me forever do you?"

"No I guess."

"Can you do some magic for me?"

"Sorry bud but I can't do magic out of school."

"Why not?" he pouted.

"It's the law, Zach. I'm not allow to do magic under 17."

"That's sucks." he said.

"I know right." I replied.

"Anyways, are you excited for the party?"

"Party? What party?" I asked and looked at my parents.

"Oh yea well um. We're heading to a Christmas party." my dad said.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"Well we didn't want to rush you."

"Oh."

"And the party is on Christmas Eve. Your friends will be there." he continued.

"And do I have to wear something fancy?" I asked.

"Yes, Y/N."

"Well that's unfortunate." I said and earned a laugh from my brother.

"We'll go shopping for a dress tomorrow." my mom spoke.

"Alright." I replied.

Today, me and my mom are going dress shopping for the party. In all honesty, I hate dresses and shopping. I'm not really a girly girl. We entered a store and I saw a familiar girl.

"Ava?" I questioned.

"Y/N?" she asked.

"AVA!" I beamed.

"Y/N!" she yelled and she ran up to me and hugged me tightly.

"I've missed you too." I said still in her embrace.

"You're here to look for dresses for the party, right?" she asked finally letting me go.

"Yes b-"

"Let's go!" she said cutting me off. 

I looked at my mom who was smiling.

"Here." she said handing me her card. "When you're done, meet me by the fountain." I nodded and disappeared in the aisles of dresses with Ava.
