When I was 11 years old, I received a gift from my aunt of whom I haven't seen for years. To my surprise, the shirt she gave me was good for a six-year-old kid thinking that I was the same kiddo years ago.
This is what happens when we put people in a box. When we put people in that container, we freeze their growth and worse we immortalize their mistakes as if they cannot become the person whom God wants them to be.
In today's gospel, the people around Jesus exclaimed, "Is he not the carpenter's son?" Jesus for his part is not just a carpenter's son, He is the son of God. Only when we don't put people, circumstances, or even God in a box that we are able to appreciate the miracles that God bestows on us. Amen.
