flashback [a year ago] ; school's rooftop

"Jeon?" a voice squeaked and he turned around, fist tightly clutching his favorite banana milk.

"Yes?" he asked before sipping on his banana milk again. She then chuckled and looked around.

"Why are you here...?" she trailed off. "Alone?" he then smiled cutely and turned around again, looking at the bright sky.

"Cuz it's peaceful here." Y/N then pursed her lips and slightly smiled, making her way towards the seat beside the boy and slowly sitting down.

"You're right." she muttered. "It is peaceful here."

☁️

"Hey! It's been one year but you're still not telling me who your girlfriend is!" she whined, plopping down onto jeongguk's fluffy bed.

He then chuckled and sipped onto his drink, smiling her way.

"All you do is drink banana milk!" she shouted.

"Cuz it's tasty!"

"Don't change the topic jeon!" she screeched.

"Fine, fine!" he giggled. "You'll meet her later, hm?" she then put a victorious smile on her face as she neared him.

"I just noticed that everytime someone asks is you're single, you say no." she shrugged. "I'm curious."

He sadly smiled.

time skip

"Uh jeon?" she called out. "Why the heck are we here?"

He smiled and turned around, winking her way.

"You asked for this y/n." he whispered, going out of his car. Y/N then followed.

A shiver ran down her spine as she passed through the line of graves. Some were old, some were young.

As she was too engrossed in her thoughts, she didn't notice him halting on his tracks. She collided with his back and he turned around, frowning.

"S-sorry." she held up a peace sign as a deep shade of red covered her face. He then chuckled and suddenly kneeled down in front of a grave.

"Baby?" he whispered. "I'm back."

Her eyes widened as she gasped, glancing on the grave.

Kim Sohyun. It said.

She glanced at jungkook with wide eyes to see tears welling his eyes.

"Love," he started. "I'm back. I'm back and I have flowers for you." he placed the flowers in front of her grave as his tears fell. "Your favorite flowers."

"I-it's been a week. I'm sorry. I was kind of busy and-" he then let out a hiccup as his tears fell.

"I miss you." he sobbed. "I miss you so much and I need you back love. Why did you have to leave me."

Slightly hesitating, she wrapped her arms around his shaking figure.

"B-by the way, this is my friend." he held her hand. "Y/N."

He smiled weakly. "She helped me a lot."

"Jeon why?" I suddenly blurted, mt voice breaking. "Why do you always look and act happy when you're going through all this?" she whispered.

"Because she told me to." he muttered. "She told me to be happy no matter what happens."

[flashback]

She was laying down the hospital bed, whole body pale, bags under her eyes, lips dry and eyes lifeless.

She was dead inside and he knew it.

"Jungkookie?" she weakly whispered and jungkook immediately rushed towards her side. "I love you."

His shoulders relaxed and he smiled. "I love you too baby."

She then raised both her shaking hands up to cup his face as he leaned in to her touch.

"Promise me love. You'll be happy no matter what okay?"

"What are you saying-"

"Promise meee." she whined.

Sighing, he muttered. "I promise."

[end of flashback]

"I don't want to break more promises." he whispered. "I love her. So much."
