--- AMY ---

“Olivia was even worse than I expected,” cringed Jadine.

Amy agreed.  Watching Olivia lip-sync and gyrate her way through the songs Tony had tried to palm off onto Melody 5 confirmed Amy had made the right decision sticking with the girls.  The Melody 5 sound was fresh and funky, while Olivia looked and sounded like a 1990’s pop-tart throw-back.  However, as Amy had surveyed the crowd during Olivia’s set, some of them seemed to be enjoying it.  Maybe they thought she was being ironic?  Either that or they felt sorry for her.

As they headed backstage to meet up with the interview crew Amy felt her phone vibrate in her bag. Despite herself, she hoped it would be a text from Derren.  He’d know they were performing today; surely he couldn’t resist sending her a good luck text?

“Another message from Lover-Boy-Jake?” said Jadine archly.

Amy threw her a look.  She knew Jadine didn’t approve of her fledgling romance with Jake Miskew, saying it took attention away from their music, but as far as Amy was concerned any publicity was good publicity.  They’d been on two dates since the video launch and Amy had made sure Jake had taken her to places they’d definitely be papped by the press.  After all, Jake Miskew didn’t have much else to offer.  All he talked about was guitars and himself; plus he had a Class A drug habit that Amy had no intention of becoming embroiled in.

There were only a couple of minor problems.  The first was sex.  Normally Amy didn’t shy away from amorous action with hot guys – but she just wasn’t into Jake Miskew in that way.  So far she’d managed to keep him at bay, but reckoned she’d only be able to manage another couple of dates before she ran out of excuses not go bed with him.  Fortunately he’d be back on tour by then.  That problem solved.

The only other niggle was that Jake Miskew was way more keen on her than she’d anticipated.  He texted her a dozen times a day, sent roses to her parents’ house every morning and had apparently told an E! News presenter that he and Amy were serious about each other.  She reasoned it was all part of his addictive personality and that by the time he was back on tour he’d be suitably bored and over her.

Amy pulled her phone from her bag.  As Jadine had predicted, the text was from Jake.

Hey Babe.

Kill it at the Festival!

Got a spesh surprise 4u later!

Despite her apathy towards him, her interest was piqued about what it could be.  Although knowing Jake, it would probably be a guitar!

As they waited to show their backstage passes to the security guards, Amy caught sight of Kat and Lena approaching.

“Hey,” said Amy giving Kat a big hug.  “How are you doing?”

“Fine,” said Kat, before hugging Jadine too.

“How’s your dad?” asked Jadine.

“Still no improvement,” said Kat.  “But I’d rather not talk about it today.  I need to concentrate on the show.”

“Fine by me,” said Jadine.  “I’m just glad we’re all here now.”

Just then Molly rushed up in a total panic.

“What’s wrong?” asked Amy.

“It’s Rhian,” gushed Molly.  “I’ve lost her!”
