Brynn's P.O.V.

I've been in Italy for a month now and I've enjoyed my time, pretty much until this very moment.

"Nope. I won't do it." I cross my arms and stomp my feet.

"Please please please!" Gianna whines like a little baby.

"No! I won't go! It's degrading and I can't dance!" I turn my back to her because that is my final word.

"It's just a ball! We don't even have to bring dates, but it would be nice. I just want to get dressed up and drink." She changes her voice like she's talking to a baby and gives me her best pouty look.

I know what she's trying to do.

"That might work on Zito but it definitely won't work on me." I wag my finger in her face.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Her face burns a scarlet red when I mention his name.

"I'm not stupid Gianna. I know you like Zito. I see you guys flirt with each other everyday!" My hands fly in the air as if I'm being dramatic.

She scoffs at me and turns her head with her nose up in the air. "We do NOT flirt. Plus, he wouldn't like me even if I wanted him to." Her words turn quiet as she lowers her head.

I place a hand on her shoulder, trying to keep eye contact with her. "Trust me. He likes you." My words are clear as I stare into her icy blue eyes. "He talks about you non stop."

Her face turns an even deeper shade of red if it was even possible. "Really?" Her eyes meet mine with hope and lust.

"Really."

"Well that just gives us more of a reason to need dates to the ball then." She smiles hard and walks out of my room.

I run my hand over my face feeling frustrated at her words.

I can't dance, no dress and no date. Yeah, yeah, I'm surrounded by men practically and I don't have a date. I mean Luca is like my brother and Gianna likes Zito. Who do I bring? Enzo? He's like my dad! FUCK NO.

This stupid ball is just a dumb Italian tradition for a girl to come of age and the whole town shows up to praise her. I hate it. My dad used to talk about it all the time for me but I refused. I didn't want a whole entire town, who most I don't even know, come to some cheep venue while I dance with different men in a big puffy dress. It's just plain wrong!

Where would I even get a dress? It's not like I can just leave this house whenever I want. I don't even know where in Italy I'm at.

Knock knock knock

"Ciao mia noura!" Mamma walks in my room with a plate of cookies. "Would you like some?" Her Italian accent gives me peace as the sweet smell of fresh cookies engulf my senses. I fucking love cookies.

"Please!" I jump up from my bed making my way towards Mamma.

"No no no. What do we say?" She swats my hand away from the cookies.

I think myself for a second trying to remember the Italian words for please. "per favore?" I take an educated guess.

"Sí! Very good mia noura!" She smiles hard at me. It warms my heart to make her proud.
