"I have some news." The doctor says as he moves the the transducer around on my stomach.
"What is it?" Jason asks while looking concerned, I hold out my hand and he takes it in his.
"It appears that we missed something." Dr Daniels continues and my concern grows. "No need to be worried."
"What did we miss?"
"A second baby." He says before letting out a chuckle. "Congratulations, you are expecting twins."
"WHAT!" Jason and I scream before looking at eachother. "WHAT?"
The doctor turns turns the sound on and we can hear more than one heartbeat. I gasp at the realisation that I will be expecting twins and not just one baby.
"One of the twins was hiding behind the other." He starts explaining that this can occur when they're positioned closely in their single chorionic sac and when one is directly infront of the other. Naturally we had to ask about the second baby's health because we need to know if they will be fully developed. Jason asked if the second baby is receiving the necessary nutrients, all this turned into an hour of us finding out more.
