ALVIA'S POV

"Where were you for the past two days?" I asked my advisor. He gave me a sly smile before shoving more work in front of me.

"Somewhere. Now, for today's schedule," he completely ignores my question and right away talks about my schedule for the day. I watched him closely. It seems like he's a bit different today.

"What is it? Was there something on me?" He immediately went to the small mirror I have in my office and observe his reflection.

"There is nothing!" He exclaimed.

"Did I said anything? You're the one who assumes that you have something on you. Did you spent your whole weekend with your mysterious girlfriend?" He smiled from ear to ear.

"How did you know? Yes, I did. It was one of the most memorable memories I have," Fred sigh.

"I wish I could turn back the time," I scoffed while shaking my head.

"What about you? Have you confessed to Kathryn about your feelings yet?" My eyes widen when he asked such a question in front of the maids!

"I don't think this is an appropriate talk that we should be having. Not in front of them," I whispered the last part. Fred shrugged his shoulder.

"I don't get it. If you love her, you shouldn't be embarrassed to talk about it in front of your own maids," of course you don't get it. I can't publicly announce that I have chosen Kathryn to be the next empress of this empire yet. Not before I told the other candidates.

For the past two days, after thorough consideration. I made up my mind and finally came with an answer that everyone has been waiting for. This has been gone too long and it's time for me to just accept the fact that my heart really has chosen Kathryn from the very start of this matchmaking process.

I don't know why I'm trying too hard to surpass this feeling in the first place. When I told Frederick about it on the phone, he was happy that I finally let my heart speaks for once.

My parents both agree that I had picked Kathryn. My siblings did too. But those aren't the people I'm worried about. Veronica, Natania and Luna is the one I have problems with. How am I supposed to break it down to them that I had chosen Kathryn over them?

We're all childhood friends and I don't have the guts to tell them the truth.

"If you're worried about telling the other candidates, you don't have to. Because the former empress already told them on your behalf," my eyes widen yet again.

"What? You expect your mother to wait for you? She was ecstatic when she received the news. Hell, she even called my mother all the way in China!" She did?! So does that mean the others do too? I haven't even made an official press conference about this.

This has become quite a problem for me.

"So basically the whole palace already been informed?" Fred nods. I turn to the maids and they too nodding their head.

"I haven't even told Kathryn yet. What if she heard from the palace staff instead from my own mouth," Fred gave me a sly smile.

"Isn't Jay even better? You don't have to go through the embarrassing moment of telling her you had chosen her to be the next empress of Gralia. Also, you don't have to tell her that she has to attend classes on becoming an empress," he does have a point.

But what if she suddenly escapes from the palace? But she did agree to followed Annabelle and came here.

"I'm sorry for interrupting your conversation, your highness. But Grand Duchess Annabelle is here to see you. She said it is quite urgent," I asked the maid to let Annabelle through.
