He watched Shou'er and their body guard Du Xin happily eat their food.
His plate was still steming and only half eaten but he had lost his appetite. Being the point of all the stared made him too unconfortable and irritable.

He was used to blending in with the crowd and being insible. He was not the happiest person right now.

Maybe it was the veil over his head? Who would not curious about a mysterious person. He considered taking it off.

But in his mind appeared the image of a domineering white haired man staring at him as if challenging him to dare to disobey him.

Helplessly Liu Wehe placed his hand which was reaching for his veil, his thumb rubbing his forefinger nervously.

The people in the room who had leaned forward expectantly seeing her reach for the veil slumped back down and sighed with disappointment.

The goddess in red was surely torturing them. Tempting them so much. Many of them wanted to talk to her but were hesitant to approach. All but one.

The man dressed in black suddenly stood up, his stunningly handsome face holding an intrigued smile as he slowly made his way to Liu Wehe.

The so called nobles instantly threw etiquette out the window and began buzzing like commoners.

It was Xing Ran Fei from the mysterius Xing family. The empire had three powerful pillars and one of them was the Xing family. The clan was very private and rarely involved themselves in any drama but when they did, no one would want to get a thousand li close.

Xing Ran Fei was the heir and deeply cherished. Not only an accomplished scholar he was also a martial artist of rare talent. Not to mention his stunning looks that attracted many bees and butterflies. Despite that he was famous refusinf any proposals with a polite smile, never taking the initiative to court someone. Because of this there were rumors that he was a cut sleeve.

Now this mysterious woman if unknown origins who hadn't even shown her face attracted the attention of the ever indifferent Xing Ran Fei.

Xing Ran Fei ignored the whispers and stares and continued to walk towards the veiled 'lady'.

Liu Wehe turned when he sensed that some one was headed his way.  Beside him he noticed Du Xin visibly stiffen.  As his eyes met the other man's he subconsciously he knew that the man was trouble. The man despite his gentle face reminded him of a snake, poisonous and deceitful.

He remained seated and calmly asked.
"Do you need anything?"

Xing Ran Fei raised a brow. It seemed that the little fairy didn't recognize him...but that was fine.

He put on the most gentle and charming smile. "I simply wanted to join miss, may I?"

No,  you may not.  Liu Wehe almost blurted out but then he reluctantly nodded.

"Thank you.  I'm Xing Ran Fei"
He said as he sat down beside him promoting him to give his name.

"Xiao Lu"

Xing Ran Fei was unperturbed at his curt answer and looked at Shou'er who was on the other side"Is this your sister, she is very cute. She'll grow up into a fine young lady like her elder sister"

Shou'er ignored him and continued stuffing an egg roll in his mouth.

Liu Wenhe remained silent not liking the suddenly stiff and cold manner of Du Xin. He hid it well but he couldn't hide it from Liu Wenhe.

"Miss seems to be new to the city. Miss Xiao Lu seems maybe I could be of some assistance if you need help with anything."

Shou'er stared at Xing Ran Fei incredulously. He was trying to- he choaked on his egg roll. Tears sprung to his eyes and his nose turned red but he still managed to glare at the stranger who daring to flirt.

Liu Wenhe patted his back and personally wiped his mouth and eyes before handing him water.

"Careful now. Eat slowly like the young lady you are."

Shou'er obeyed but his eyes still staring warily at the stranger as he slowly sipped the water.

Liu Wenhe smiled at Shou'er before turning to access a partucularly strange person. A normal lady like the noble ladies whose eyes were currently spitting fire would feel flattered and pleased under such circumstances but Liu Wehe was not a normal lady.

In fact he was not a lady at all. He was a man...a currently extremely annoyed man who had taken too many hits on his pride.  First forced to be consort, then made to dress like a woman and now being treated like one.

"Looks can be deceiving young master Xing Ran Fei, can cause ones downfall" He whispered so no-one but them could hear.

Xing Ran Fei showed some surprise but he quickly regained his gentle smile and something flashed in his jet black eyes.
"Indeed. Miss Xiao Lu said something very profound. I'm pleasantly surprised."

Liu Wenhe grimly smiled.

He leaned on forward and said in a low voice filled with redicule.

"I am not someone who can be captured by a few measly flowery words. Young master Xing, did you know your eyes are like a barren dessert?"

With that he stood.
"Come Xiao yue, we're leaving"
Relieved that they were leaving Shou'er quickly followed, his hand firmly holding Liu Wehe's sleeve.

Xing Ran Fei stroaked his chin as he watched them go. A barren desert, huh? It was the first time someone had described his eyes that way other than them being a beautiful golden brown. She saw more. She saw the truth.

His eyes glinted and his mouth curled into a smile.
