"(Y/n)? Yeah, it's me. Listen, Recovery Girl just contacted me... apparently she found something else in your blood."
"W-what? What did she find?" I ask, the shock of something unknown striking me like a train.
There's a pause on the line and then the click of a tongue. "I... maybe it'll be better if she explains it. Hang on."
Muffled sounds and voices are all I can hear for a moment before Recovery Girl's kind voice comes on. "Hello? (Y/n), dear?"
"Y-yes, I'm still here."
"I'm sorry to bother you right now, but I found something important and Aizawa insisted on telling you right away." She starts. I nod on reflex, not even caring that she can't see me. "I was doing more tests, normal things to see what had happened and what was going on and I found that from the day you gave blood to me to now, things have changed. I took a few photographs of the blood under a microscope day by day, in case anything changed. I also took photos of the tested blood. I-I'll start from the beginning I suppose. Your blood appears to have been mutated.
"By what of course?" She continues, "Well... the most I can gather is that it once was normal, but that it began rapidly changing at a very young age. Once you fell into our universe, it seems that it started turning back to normal. It is difficult for me to quite say since I don't have blood samples from your universe, but this is the most I have gathered so far."
I blink a few times, the information sinking in. "...so..." I take a deep breath, not really sure what I wanted to say. "So. I'm... altered?" I finally ask, the words tumbling out of my mouth.
"I...I'm not sure. I think it may have been conditions on your Earth that changed things." Recovery Girl replies over the phone.
"B-but... my blood was once normal? It was once unmutated? And then it became..." My voice shakes and I become angry at how my voice sounds so unsure. "...whatever it became, and now I'm here and it's turning back to normal?"
I hear a sigh on the other side of the phone. "I... think so. It's difficult to say so none of this information is definite. Anyways, I'm going to continue experimenting and we'll keep you updated. Please don't take any of this too seriously. Don't worry too much and return to your friends." She says in a calm voice.
"Y-yeah... okay." I say hesitantly. "Got it. Thank you for telling me everything. H-have a nice night." I hang up the phone, too confused and shocked to wait for her to say anything back.
My legs begin feeling wobbly and I slide down the white wall onto the carpeted hallway floor.
I pull my legs into my chest and wrap my arms around them. I stare at the wall in front of me blankly for a few moments before my mind begins screaming.
What does this mean? Am I in danger? How am I changing? What would change when my blood returned to 'normal'?
"W-what's happening to me?" I whisper to myself.
A small creaking sound directs my attention to around the corner. I whip my head around the corner, looking for the source but finding nothing. My blood's changing and now I'm hearing things? Great.
I walk around for a few moments before finding a bathroom where I wash my face with cold water.
There is also a few cups of chilled water and some mints. I take a long sip of the cool water and grab a mint, popping it into my mouth before I begin finding my way back to the hall where everyone else is.
A thought lingering at the back of my mind for some time now resurfaces, but I push it away. Now is not the time.
I walk into the room and quietly walk to my seat.
