BAXTER
My body felt warm and my eyes heavy is I cuddled in soft fur. Nuzzling my way closer I relaxed into the warmth curled around me and my mind began to drift back into a sleepy haze. Wait. Fur? Startled my eyes shot open looking straight into the ribs of the large dog. His large paws tucked into his chest as he curled slightly, my arm draped over his large body and my his head resting behind mine. His even breathing made his chest rise and fall his fur slightly tickling my nose. I couldn't help but smile as I thought back to the night before. The large animal has fallen asleep and I didn't have the heart to wake him so I moved my plate to the bedside table and turned off the TV. I don't remember cuddling him so that must've happened after I fell into my own slumber.

With a small smile I nuzzled back into his fur and relaxed into the bed. I still wonder what breed he is. I wrapped my arm tighter around him not wanting to leave my warm little haven. His head tucked closer behind me nuzzling slightly at my neck making me smile. His head raised and he sniffed across my face, his whiskers tickling my skin making me giggle more and try to hide in his fur. His soft tongue lapped at my ear and face as the soft thud of his tail hitting the bed made my giggle turn into laughs, my fingers curling in his fur. Once he stopped I tipped my head up to look into his soft eyes, the color a twist of gold and green wish seemed to swirl in a hypnotic dance.

"Well buddy I think it's time to get up." I sighed softly. He let out a small puppy like growl as he unfolded one paw. His thick leg draped over me the pads of his paw pushing against my back as he laid he head softly on top of mine. "I take that as a no." My voice became muffled in his neck fur and he just huffed in reply. So that's how we spent the next two hours, curled up in bed relaxing as I pet him softly. When 1130 rolled around I forced myself away from the big dog and smiled as he let out a small whine, his eyes pouting.

"I'm sorry buddy but I need to shower and get some food in my tummy and I bet you need to go outside." I chuckled. The large dog just huffed at me again and laid his head down on his front paws. "If you're going to stick around I need to find something to call you by, Buddy is much of a name now is it?" His ears perked and his tail began to flop on the bed again.

"How about Lassie?" My tone became heavy with sarcasm, but I don't think the animal found it funny. His tail dropped and I swear if looks could kill I'd be dead on the floor. "No? Hmm how about Spot?" I couldn't even finish without laughing and the dog gave me an unimpressed look yet humor danced in his eyes. How he actually understood me was beyond what I could think of but I couldn't help but roll with it. "Okay. How about Midnight?" His ears perked slightly but not quite the answer that seemed to fit even with his pitch black coat. "Hmm what about... Hades?" His tail flipped at the answer happily. I loved Greek mythology and the name seemed to fit his large size and 'mean' looking demeanor.

With a smile I quickly grabbed clean clothes and hopped in the shower before the water even warmed. I hummed to myself as I quickly washed my body and hair. In five minutes I was out of the shower and getting dressed when I heard the soft thud of the large animal jumping off the bed. Listening quietly to the dog moving around my room I dressed in sweats and a baggy tee. When I stepped out of the bathroom I found Hades sitting outside the door with his tail wagging and his tongue rolled out. Nothing in the room touched or out of place. I pat his head lightly and walked out of the room. The kitchen floor was cold against my feet as I walked to the fridge my tummy letting out a small rumble. Hades stayed close my side as I looked trough the fridge hoping to find something good.

The slam of a car door and shouting brought my attention to the front door where I could hear footsteps coming up the porch. The large dog let out a small growl planting himself between me and the entrance. Quickly I grabbed his scruff and tried to pull him back but my weight did nothing against the large animal. I quickly wrapped my arms around his neck as the front door slammed open and my father walked through, my mother close behind lecturing him on something. They walked by not even glancing towards the kitchen and into their bedroom. Hades watched carefully before relaxing his stance.

"Come on big boy we gotta get you outside before my parents see you. They'll kill me if they knew I let you in the house." I whispered lightly. The large dog let out a huff before turning to the back door. His reluctance showed when I opened the door. He looked at the bedroom door then at me in worry. "Go on, I'll come out and feed you tonight if you're still around." With that I have him I little slap on the butt urging him outside. The large dog took off and disappeared into the woods. There goes my weekend of freedom. I let out a sigh and closed the door carefully before turning away. I could hear shouting coming from my parents room so I quickly headed to mine and closed the door. Hopefully if I stay up here father won't bother me. Even though I know it's not true I pray it happens.

(A/N sorry for the long wait and the shitty chapter. I should be able to write a little more often now that my life is settling down so we shall see.)
