Once the bell rang, I quickly scurried over to the library. The school library closes at around 6:30 PM on Thursday and Fridays and 5:30 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I looked around the library and spotted Peter's hair near the back of the library where majority of the study desks are.
I hurried over, while pulling out my Physics Textbook along with the assessment booklets Mrs Warren gave us on the table. "Sorry to keep you waiting."
Peter looked up and looked at his watch, "It's 3:04 PM. I only came at around 3:00 PM. It's okay."
I nodded slowly and I sat on the spare seat next to his.
"So um, I did start on a few of the questions on the first page." he said, twirling his pen.
"Oh, great. I actually haven't started yet."
He pushed his booklet towards me, "The 1st few questions are pretty simple. It's just talking about what the Voltage, Current and Resistance is measured in and their symbols.. um- pretty much summarising the V=IR equation..."
"Oh ok."
"Here just copy them down."
I looked at his booklet and quickly jotted down the answers into my booklet.
"Thanks."
For the next hour or so we continued working on the booklet and seeing if we have the same answers as each other.
"Um Y/N." Peter spoke after 3 minutes of us working in silence.
"Yea." I answered while looking up.
"Have you started page 6?"
I looked at my page, I was on the last question on page 6. "Yeah, I have. Why?"
"I'm just uh- sort of stuck on question C, the third question down..."
I looked at question C, it was about the series circuits.
I do remember Mrs Warren teaching us this but I'm not quite sure...
"Hold on." I looked through my Physics Binder and found the notes I have written on measuring voltage in a series circuit.
"Oh right."
I got a piece of paper and put it in the middle of us, "So the question is what happens to the voltage when there is two light bulbs in a series circuit."
I drew a diagram and continued, "Okay so it says the total amount of voltage is 10 Volts, and in a series circuit the voltage splits into the 2 light bulbs because that is the only pathway for the voltage to flow through so each bulb will get 5 Volts each since 10 divided by 2 is 5."
When I looked at Peter, he was looking at me earnestly. I avoided eye contact.
"So anyways... That's pretty much the answer. The voltage gets split into 2 because there are 2 light bulbs. So if there were 4 then it will get split into 4..."
Peter didn't answer.
I took a deep breath, "You're with me Peter?" I asked, looking at him.
He snapped out of it, "Oh uh-um, ye-yeah! I-I get it now... um... thanks."
"Okay..." I looked at my watch, 4:30 PM. Not that late.
I flipped though the booklet, "So um do you want to finish until page 8 or something and just call it a day?"
"Sure." Peter replied while writing down the answer to question C.
"Great."
I continued on page 6 and page 7.
The questions that were written were relatively easy and Mrs Warren explained it well so I pretty much understand Ohm's Law.
Soon time has past by and I was on the last question on Page 8, "Did you get the answer for Question F on page 8?" I questioned.
Peter was zoned out, staring at the wall of book shelves on the other side of the wall.
He looked down and scanned his page, "Uh yeah, I got that... I wrote that increasing the voltage will cause the current to increase, while increasing the resistance will cause the current to decrease."
I got the same.
"Cool. Same. I'm done, are you done?" I asked.
"Uh-yeah, I was done 15 minutes ago."
I looked at him in shock, "Why didn't you tell me you were done? You could of left early, I thought you had your Internship."
"Yeah I know, um he uh- won't mind..." He looked at his watch, "It's only...5:42 PM." His eyes grew big, "uh- crap, I didn't know it was this late..."
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry..."
He touched the back of his neck, "It's okay. I just wanted to make sure I got the answer right for Question F too..."
He's probably lying.
I shut my Physics book, "Okay well uh- I think we were pretty productive today... Do you perhaps wanna meet tomorrow or another time to finish this?" I asked Peter who was packing up his things and zipping them away in his backpack.
"Yeah-uh maybe on Monday because um tomorrow I-uh have things to do, and on the weekends I'm busy..." He said, standing up.
"Sure, okay. I'll see you then-"
"Bye." and he dashed out to the front entrance of the library.
"oh okay bye." I started putting my books away and packing up my pencil case when suddenly a loud thud from a phone being placed on the table harshly made me jump.
"Oh my goodness!"
It was Peter, he looked puffed.
"NUMBER." He said loudly.
"What?" I whispered shouted back.
"Hey! You two at the back corner! Keep your voices down." Said Mrs Mitchell, the Librarian.
"Sorry." I apologised.
"I need your number!"
I looked at him in confusion, "Why?"
"Uh- to call you..." His volume decreased. "Ju-Just in case..." he added.
"Oh okay..." I took his phone and added my phone number to his contacts.
"There. But I don't usually accept calls because I always have it on mute so, sorry if I don't receive your call." I whispered.
"Okay." He mouthed and dashed out.
"Bye?"
"Hey! No running in the library Mr Parker!"
"Sorry Mrs Mitchell!" Peter exclaimed and exited out the doors.
"I'm too old for these things..." Mrs Mitchell mumbled as I started walking out.
"Don't worry Mrs. It won't happen again." I reassured.
"It better not!"
"It won't! Thank you!" I yelled.
"Voices!"
"Whoops sorry!" I said then I exited out the library.
