Chapter 29: Unfamiliar Woman

Ryzen POV

"Wow! Miss Millen, you look absolutely amazing." one reporter exclaimed.

"Miss Yu, your designer is Luka, right? We happened to see his Instagram story and you looked absolutely dazzling even from there!"

Many more reporters gathered around 'my' grandfather, Zeus Costales, and I. It was overwhelming and kind of exciting at the same time. All of them were just marveling about my look for the day.

"Indeed, I am wearing Luka." I said simply.

"Too beautiful! I heard Luka only takes 5 clients per year. Miss Yu is really an incredible person." one of them said.

For that question, Zeus Costales answered for me.

"Exactly, my granddaughter deserves nothing but the best. My daughter and son-in-law specially made arrangements for her gown." Zeus Costales boasted to the media.

Soon, after a couple of more chit-chats and pictures being taken, we were finally escorted inside the massive hall where the event would take place.

Zeus Costales excused himself from me as he greeted his colleagues, so I was left alone for a while with an escort guiding me to my sit.

Since Zeus Costales is the senate president and is one of the key figures in this country's politics, he was seated in front of the hall. That means that I would have to walk down a bit farther just to get to my seat.

On the other hand, other politicians such as regional representatives, political party leaders and mayors would have to seat at the back, just near the entrance.

The hall is massive and if it wasn't for the escort guiding me, I would most likely be be lost.

While walking, I spotted a familiar figure right away. Since he is my target, it was natural and almost instant for me to be able to recognise Lennox's figure right away.

But I twitched my brows a bit as I saw an unfamiliar woman clinging into his arms.

It was a beautiful woman who had a slender figure. She had long, brown curly hair and had more westernised features. Her height was also quite tall and matched the man's tall height extremely well.

Upon seeing them, I instantly had the impression that they look quite good together.

My heart felt uncomfortable as I twitched my mouth even more at the scene.

Even in my original life as Ryzen, I was confident of myself because I knew I had good looks. I was constantly scouted to be an actress, or was always invited to join school pageants. On some instances, I was even regarded as the 'number one' beauty in our school. But, as much as my looks were recognised, I was lacking in my height...

Now, as Millen Yu, she had the thing that I was yearning for in my original life. This body is quite tall and whenever I'm with Lennox, even though he is much taller, I don't feel so small. Even though Millen Yu's Asian features contrasted with the westernised looks I had in my original life, she was also a beauty in her own right.

Millen Yu's beauty just screamed elegance, which was highlighted even more with the dress I'm currently wearing.

So with that, even though it sounds quite arrogant, I do not feel inferior to the looks of the woman that was next to Lennox.

However, my heart does feel quite bothered since based from Millen's original memories, Lennox have never brought a partner before to this national event. He was always alone and this is the first time he's ever done this...

What makes the girl next to him so special? What relationship do they have?

I might be overthinking now but, what if the reason why Lennox never even bothered to look at Millen before was because he already had the girl next to him in his heart? What if, they've already been together for a long time already without them publicising it?

I held in my frustrations as I put on a smile and confidently walked towards Lennox. It was inevitable, anyway. We were walking from opposite directions and happened to see each other at one point.

I felt his gaze on me while I was still unconsciously looking at his linked arms with that unfamiliar woman.

"It is a pleasure to meet you here, Millen." he greeted quickly.

Upon hearing his greeting, I quickly tore off my gaze on their linked arms and looked directly at him.

Lennox Zevallos was always handsome but for today, it looked like he made extra effort in order to look even more good. After all, it is understandable since today is a national event, broadcasted by all the media in the country.

Every year, in this national event, people were required to wear modernised traditional clothing. Women wore different versions of short-sleeve blouse dress while men wore an embroidered long-sleeve formal shirt paired with black pants.

My perspective may be essentially bias, but the traditional long-sleeve shirt looked so good on Lennox. It fit his figure just perfectly. Aside from that, he had his black hair slicked back today, making him more manly.

"Indeed. Nice to see you, Lennox." I said informally with a slight smile.

As much as I want to talk to him more, I feel bothered because a lot of questions arose within my mind regarding the woman next to him. Quite frankly, I feel a bit annoyed.

Besides, my escort was already signalling for me to follow him. The national event is probably going to start soon and chit-chats would only delay me.

Therefore, after another polite smile directed at Lennox, I walked pass him to meet my escort.

If we meet later on before the after-party starts, then it's good. But I don't know if it's possible when he brought a partner in with him... he'll probably be busy entertaining her, huh?
