Chapter five | I don't like boys

"I can see it in your eyes!" Max and Valerie spun around Eleven's room singing angel by Madonna, when Max stopped and stared down at the magazine El was holding

"oh you found Ralph Macchio,"

"Macchio?"

"yeah he's the karate kid, hiy-yah!" both El and Valerie laughed as swung her hand down "he's so hot right, I bet he's an amazing kisser too," Valerie stared at Max a pang of jealousy hitting her

"he's not that cute," Valerie told and Max just rolled her eyes

"he is too, you think he's cute right El?" El nodded her head at the red head and they both stared at Valerie

"I don't like boys anyway so it doesn't even matter," she laid down on the bed staring at the ceiling not really thinking about what she said

"I thought all girls liked boys?" El asked innocently and Valerie shot up from where she was laying and stared at the girl wide eyed

"of well um...the thing is...I uh meant that um-"

"it's okay Bonnie you can trust her," Valerie nerves calmed her Max's words

"yeah you're right," she turned her attention back to El "you see the thing with me El is that it's true most girls do like boys but I'm not like them, I uh actually like girls."

"you do?"

"yeah and it's normal but just don't talk about it to anyone besides Max, Dustin, or Hope cause not everyone thinks it's normal."

"they don't? why not?"

"well same reason they don't like boys liking boys they think it's wrong and I don't really know why it's just how it is, but my mom says that it's gonna change in like 3 decades so I'll just wait it out,"

"wait your mom knows?" Max asked and Valerie shook her head

"I don't think she does," Max nodded and Valerie looked back at El

"so girls can like boys and girls?"

"yup girls do it so much better though,"

"okay cool," Valerie gave the girl a smile and they dropped the conversation

"so hey El is Mike a good kisser," Max asked the girl and Valerie rolled her eyes

"I don't know he's my first boyfriend."

"ex-boyfriend El," Valerie corrected her smiling but El only frowned

"hey don't worry about it, he'll come crawling back to you bagging for forgiveness."

"yeah he's gonna be all like, oh please El please take me back I miss you so much," they all laughed as Valerie did a horrible job impersonating Mike "God I wish I could see them now probably mopping around all depressed," El turned to the girl giving her a smirk "what is it?"

"is this really gonna work?" Max asked the girl as she tied the blind fold around her head nodding

"holy shit this is insane."

"Max."

"yeah quiet sorry," they watched as El sat there quietly for a moment before speaking

"I see them," Max and Valerie moved to sit on the floor next to El

"what are they doing?"

"eating," she stayed quiet for about a minute before speaking again "they say we are species."

"what!"

"emotion not logic."

"fucking assholes!"

Eleven then ripped the blindfold off her eyes widening before she burst into laughter falling on the floor Max and Valerie laughing with her. They heard Hopper's car pull up and quickly sat right on the floor with the music up.

"HEY!" he screamed barging in his eyes widening when he saw them

"do you knock jeez?"

"yeah jeez!"

"oh uh hey....I'm sorry, I thought uh,"

"Mike's not here," Max finished for him and he just stood there

"Max and Valerie wanted to have a sleepover, is that okay?"

"yeah, yeah uh do your parents know about this," they both nodded there expecting him to leave but he didn't

"did you need something?" Max asked the man

"no uh I'll just leave," and at that he closed the door.

"hey I have an idea," Max and Valerie to towards El who had a sly smile on her face.

Valerie watched as Max set up the board and El placed the bottle directly in the middle. El had had this idea to spy on the person the bottle landed on and both Max and Valerie were very shocked the girl had come up with this.

"holy shit I can't believe we're doing this," Max laughed and El spun the bottle and it landed on Mike's dad

"Mr. Wheeler," they all said simultaneously

"ugh boring, spin again," Max told her and she looked at her strangely

"against the rules?"

"we make are own rules," El smiled and spun again this time it landed on Billy and Max got up to grab the radio "I should just warn you if he's with a girl or doing something Gross just get out of there right away before you're scarred for life,"

"Max!"

"no I'm just saying he's really Gross."

"Max!"

"okay shutting up now," they watched as El pulled on the blind fold and the room became silent as she searched for Billy

"I found him."

"what's he doing," both girls asked

"I don't know he's on the floor talking to someone," she pulled off the blind fold breathing heavy

"El what happened?" Valerie asked but the girl just stared whipping the blood from her nose.
