zayn cried for a long time and liam tries to console him. it was a mixture of his pregnancy hormones and repressed emotions.

the next morning when he had calmed down, he decided to facetime jordan. both him and liam agreed not to mention the drugs in order not to scare jordan away from coming home.

it rang for three times before jordan finally answered. he looked a mess, he had dark circles underneath his eyes and his hair was messy, which is strange because jordan always tried to look his best. he must really be going through something.

"hi mom," jordan says.

"hey baby," zayn says with a sad smile. looking at jordan just brings out his emotions again so he starts crying all over. "i miss you." he sobs.

"what's wrong?" jordan asks, worried.

liam collects the phone from zayn while his husband tries to console himself.

"hey bud," liam waves to jordan. "how are you?"

"uh i'm good. what's wrong with mom?"

"it's just a bit of pregnancy hormones. and he misses you, we both do," liam says.

jordan lets out a small smile. "i miss everyone too. i'm coming back tomorrow."

"that's great. we can't wait to see you," liam smiles at him, genuinely excited.

"can you give the phone back to mom?" jordan requests.

"sure," liam says. zayn had wiped his tears away so he collects the phone.

"that was embarrassing. sorry jordan," he sniffles. "stupid hormones."

"it's fine. can you pick me up from the airport tomorrow? my flights by noon,"

"yes!" zayn says, a bit too enthusiastic. he's happy that jordan asked him, not liam or his boyfriend to pick him up but him. "i mean sure. i'll pick you up."

"cool. i've gotta go now, bye guys," jordan says and ends the call.

"other than me bursting into tears, i think that went well," zayn smiles to his husband. "i'm so happy to see him. gahh my sweet baby boy, it's going to be different this time. i'm going to be all over him."

"that's great and all but don't forget we have to talk to him about doing drugs," liam says.

"not tomorrow. tomorrow should be all about welcoming him back. let's throw a party,"

"no zayn," liam says. "no party."

"why not?" zayn huffs.

"we can't pull off a party overnight," liam says.

"i'd just bake a cake and get some balloons," zayn says. "he's been gone two weeks liam, it feels like a lifetime."

"alright zayn," liam says. "just don't overwork yourself. you're supposed to be resting."

"i won't," zayn says, leaning up to peck liam on his lips to quell his worries.

"i'll go check up on theo," liam says.

"you should," zayn replies.

liam leaves their bedroom and after a while, zayn hears a knock on the door. he instantly knows who it is.

"come in lucas," he says. lucas always makes sure to knock because he doesn't want to walk in on anything, he's learnt that the hard way so many times.

"did you forget?" lucas frowns, crossing his arms.

"uh," zayn tries to wreck his brain. it's not anyone's birthdays is it? no, definitely not. what could he have forgotten?
