After seeing that text, I knew I had to call Mark. "Hey guys, I'm gonna call my boyfriend. Just call me when our ride gets here." they nod in response and I find a private spot where I can call.
I dial Mark's number and contact him. "Mark." I say a bit(or maybe very) angrily. "Hey babe, what's up?" I hear him casually ask, which made me angrier.
"Who the fuck is Trish?" I yell at my phone, but not so loud that Christine and the others would hear. "What do you mean?" the fucker asked obliviously.
"Don't you 'what do you mean' me. You sent me a text and it had another girl's name on it!" I exclaimed to him, looking up to prevent the tears in my eyes from brimming up.
God, I hate crying over dumb men.
"This is clearly a misunderstanding, babe. Trish is just a work colleague, calm down." he explains, genuinely I might add.
I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. "Alright, start talking." I say, pinching the bridge of my nose.
"I asked her if she was free 'cause I wanted to meet up with her. We had to do some finishing touches on our presentation for a huge upcoming project. I didn't realize I sent it to you until you called." he explains.
I sighed a breath of relief. "Sorry, Mark. I'm sorry for overreacting. It's just that you've been very distant lately." I say, "I really thought you didn't like me anymore."
"Prairie babe, please don't ever think that way. I still love you and I always will." he reassures me. I calm down and feel the tears stop from welling up. "Love you too, babe."
"Sooo, did you have your first performance yet?" he asks me, lightening things up. "We actually just finished a while ago and I'm pretty exhausted. That must be why I made a big deal out of nothing." I say, referring to my lashing out literally a minute ago.
"Go get some rest then. I'll call you some other time when you're all rested up." Mark says.
"No, no it's really alright—" I was cut off by Bianca calling my name. "Hey Prairie, our ride's here!" I ended our call and walked towards them taking deep breaths, making sure I didn't look like I just(almost) cried.
Suddenly, I bumped into Conan. I asked the heavens why I always tend to bump to him. He looked at my state, and slightly reddened nose and eyes. Worry immediately painted his features. "Prairie, are you alright?"
"Yeah, just my allergies." I quickly say, dismissing the conversation that hasn't even started yet. "Are you sure?" the boy asks and I start to get annoyed. "Yes, I'm sure. You can stop asking." I reply a bit rudely.
"Sorry, I was just concerned." he mumbled and walked away from me. I felt bad for him, considering the fact that he was only worried for me, but I couldn't tell him what happened.
I got to the vehicle where everyone else was already seated and was waiting for me. "Sorry I took a while." I apologize to everyone.
"It's alright, at least you're here now." Bianca says and I smile.
"Right, now that everyone's finally here let's head back to the hotel." I say and close the door of the vehicle, signaling the driver to drive back to the hotel we were staying in.
