☹☹☹

"Pardon me?" I asked the red haired girl, baffled at what she just said. "I just want to get to know you is all." she says and grabs my hand.

"But first, we have to make sure Conan doesn't hear." She pulls me going downstairs and exit the house, passing through the living room in the process.

"Where y'all going?" I hear Conan ask from the kitchen. "We're gonna head out for a while! Y'know, get some fresh air and all that jazz." Ashley yelled back to him, not letting go of me.

"Alright, but be back soon! The mug cakes are almost ready."

"Don't worry, it won't take long!"

I remain silent, not resisting from Ashley's pull. Instead of actually walking around the area, she brings me to the back of the house where we can see Conan working in the kitchen.

She made sure we were far enough from him so as to 'not grow any suspicion'. Once we were finally out of earshot we looked for a place to sit in.

Soon after, we found a log not far from the yard and proceed to sit there. "Sorry for being all weird, but I just wanted to talk without him hearing us."

"Why, did Conan do something?" I ask her. "In a way... But we'll get to that soon." she waves her hand and continues.

"So, you're Prairie. You're a lot prettier than I imagined." I was befuddled with this, not aware of what's happening at all.

"Um, thanks?" I say more as a question than a statement. "You seem to have a nice personality too. No wonder he wouldn't stop talking about you." that sentence gave my cheeks a light tint of pink.

"I doubt everything he told you about me is nice. Considering I've been an ass to him for the first few months." I say looking at my shoes.

"No, no, nothing too bad. In fact, he always asked help from me when it came to you."

"How come?" I ask, still genuinely perplexed.

"You said you were an ass to him right? Well, he'd never get why you were like that to him. He said you were hitting it off pretty well with the others." she explained to me.

At this point I felt guilty. Guilty for treating him like some garbage bag for months. But then again, I couldn't help it, considering the trauma I faced.

We sat on that log for a few more minutes. I was reflecting on various things until Ashley spoke up. "I kind of have a feeling he likes you." she says as she watches the boy from afar, looking for ice cream in his fridge.

That was not what I was expecting to hear.

"He hasn't told me anything yet, though. He's probably still denying what he's feeling. He doesn't say it but it definitely looks like it."

Hearing Ashley say that gave me mixed emotions. I was taken aback; stunned to say the least. I looked to my side at Conan and watched him now preparing preparing some lemonade.

It looked like he was listening to music since he was bopping his head while squeezing lemons.

I gotta admit he does look cute.
