☹☹☹
December 4, 2019
It had been a month since that incident. And things weren't going so well ever since. Everything went downhill.
Just kidding, I was exaggerating. But still, it wasn't good. At least in Conan's and my perspective of things.
Ever since that night, Conan and I were back to square one. Everything was awkward between us. It's like the universe is making me go through this hell for what we did.
No one knew what happened that night; not even Alisa. I intended to keep it that way for now to prevent further damage to anything at all.
The worst part about people being unaware is that Conan and I have to pretend we're still close. I mean yeah, we were close but it's awkward now. At least we we're slowly trying to get things back to normal.
It was currently around 10:30 in the evening and the band was setting up the bus for a party to commemorate Conan's twenty-first birthday. I was assigned to distract Conan by going out since I'm the one 'closest' to him.
Yay, lucky me.
We were just walking around at a park which surprisingly still had many people despite the late time. Both of us were silent the whole time. And no, the silence was not the least bit comfortable.
Despite my situation with Conan, I still bought him a gift. He still is a friend after all. Right now it was hidden under my blue bomber jacket since it was pretty small in size.
"I know we're here just so y'all can distract me from the party being set up." he spoke for the first time since we got to the park. "I may be stupid, but I ain't stupid."
"I am genuinely confused by what you just said." I laughed, relieved that we were finally having a conversation.
"It's okay, some people aren't smart enough to understand." he dramatically looks away as if he was in a story, which made me laugh harder.
After the laughter dies down, things start to become silent again. "I'm glad we can still have these kinds of conversations, despite y'know..." I say, hoping that my mention of the past event wouldn't make him feel uncomfortable.
"Nah, it's totally fine. I'm glad too. To be honest, I thought you wouldn't wanna talk to me anymore." he scratches the back of his neck as we continue walking.
"How could I not? Even with everything being awkward, you're still the person I'm closest to among all the people with us on tour right now."
Conan smiles and looks ahead, "I still like you, you know. That never changed." he says softly. This time we stop in our tracks.
That sentence made me so happy, it had a physical effect on me. "I still like you too, in fact I even have a birthday gift for you." I say, pulling out my present.
It was a small royal blue box lined with velvet material. "Oh cool, a box!" he celebrates, taking the soft material from me.
"No you dumbass, the gift is in the box." I laugh at him being ridiculous. He shakes his head laughing and proceeds to open the small container.
