20| I'm really happy for you

NOVEMBER SUSPICIOUSLY eyed the two girls ahead of her as they quietly talked to one another. Nova couldn't help but feel concerned and worried as Danielle and Kristi had been keeping quite a distance from the group. It had been quite a while and all the girls had noticed the sudden change in Kristin's attitude. She seemed to be lost in her own world and as much as they tried to talk to her, she seemed like she was in a daze.

Eva and November trailed behind the blonde and the ginger haired girl as the four of them made their way to the soccer field for extra practice that afternoon. Though, when they got there, the four couldn't help the curiosity that full-filled them as they saw their coach, Clevet Peters, sitting back and simply watching the boys practice.

"What's he doing here?" Kristi asked as she stopped in her tracks, watching the scene from a distance. November and Eva exchanged shrugs as they stood beside the two girls that were previously ahead of them

"I don't know..." Dani shrugged nonchalantly before making her way over to the man that the four girls had genuinely become close with over the course of months they've spent at Edge Academy.

"Hey Clev!" Dani greeted as she comfortably sat on the bench beside him, "wonderful day to be out, right?"

The older brunette man contorted his face as he glanced down at the cheekily smiling ginger. By then Kristin had made her way beside Danielle while Eva and Nova sat on the ground in front of them.

"its nearly raining, Danielle" Clevet chuckled as he ruffled Dani's pre-perfected ponytail, causing her to slap his hand away with a scowl. Though, as Kristin laughed along, November just focused her attention to where the boys practice came to an end

"is it bad that I feel guilty because we didn't invite Brianna?" Eva asked as she scrunched up her nose and sent Nova a questioning glare. With a shrug, November tilted her head side to side as if she were weighing her options

"no.." she configured, "she'd be running onto the field to get with one of the guys anyway..."

Eva broke into a smile as November imitated Brianna's desperate composure when it came to the soccer boys of Edge. Truly, the girl was head over heels for all of them.

Evangeline's smile had faltered as she alarmingly looked past November's shoulder before sending her gaze to where Kristi sat with her attention firmly placed on the boy approaching their american friend. Eva could see the sorrow expression that washed over her countenance upon watching Kyle Wesley plop a seat down on the grass.

"hey Nova," he greeted with a soft smile before taking a drag from his water, "what brings you here?"

With a simple gaze, November gave him a nonchalant shrug. "Just practicing, why?"

Nervously, the boy ran a hand through his hair as he looked down with a chuckle. November couldn't help but draw her eyebrows together and send Eva a confused glance. In return, Eva just widened her eyes and gave her a pointed look.

"Well um..." Kyle began with a shaky breath, "maybe after practice, you and I could get something to eat?"

November sighed and looked away from him as she shut her eyes in slight guilt. Clenching her jaw, she looked down at the grass she sat in and began picking at it. As much as she didn't want to be rude and turn him down, she probably couldn't stand herself for going on a date with someone out of pity; especially if that someone was her best friends crush.

"Look Kyle..." Nova began with a sincere tone, glancing up at him with apologetic eyes. "You're really a cool guy and all but I'm not interested... I'm sorry... if you want to get something to eat sometime and hang out, sure we could with a group of people... but I'm sorry, I'm just not that into you..."

Nova couldn't help but feel iniquity flood through her body as she watched his expression die into a slightly hurt one. As much as she thought he was a nice boy, she just had no interest in him; even if she tried to, she couldn't.

"It's fine.." He said softly with pain and reflection laced into his voice as he stood up, sending her a small smile. "I'll hold you on that group lunch though..."

Nova pursed her lips together as she sent him a small wave, being quite relieved in his understanding demeanour. As the boy jogged off, November followed him with her eyes before she felt a tight grasp on her two upper arms. In a jolt, November turned her head to where Eva held her and shook her in excitement.

"You're shitting me!" Eva laughed out, "he fancies you!"

November gasped as she widened her eyes, sending Eva an uneasy glare. Though, just as the English brunette had caught her out bursted words, November could already see Kristin sadly making her way over to the two with Danielle trailing beside her. Slowly, she sat crisscrossed beside Nova and down casted her gaze to the grass. November had solely been preparing herself for an angry outburst but after a few moments, all Kristin did was send her friend a halfhearted smile with sad eyes.

"Congratulations..." Kristi said softly as she placed a reassuring hand on Nova's arm, "i'm really happy for you.."

Dani sent Nova a small smile as she placed a comforting arm around Kristi's fragile composure. Though, all Nova could do was look at Eva in panic about something to say before Kristin would collapse in tears.

November nervously scratched the back of her neck as she chuckled lightly. "Um..." Nova began, "why are you happy? I rejected him... were not really together and nothing happened"

Kristi dragged her eyebrows together as she glanced up at the girl. "Why would you reject him?"

"I'm not interested in him.."

Kristi shook her head curtly in slight confusion. "How? He's attractive, plays football, super sweet-"

November chuckled in interruption as she leaned back on her arms. Truly, she didn't know why she didn't like Kyle Wesley, she just didn't. There was no doubt that she thought he was attractive and sweet but every part of her screamed that he just wasn't the boy for her.

"Kristi.." She said softly to stop Kristi's further ramble (because all the girls knew Kristin Lennon could go on about Kyle Wesley) "I'm just not into him... besides, I couldn't do that to you"

Kristi melted into a small heartwarming smile as she sent Nova a thankful look. Though, she still shook her head. "As much as I fancy him-"

"Love" Eva coughed out before looking away, causing Kristi to send her a small glare.

"As much as I fancy him," Kristi repeated, intently looking at Eva as she talked before looking back to November, "I really wouldn't be mad if you went out with him... I mean, you're really lucky Nova.. almost every girl has had a crush on him"

With a proud smirk, Eva rose up her hand. "I haven't"

"I said almost" Kristi countered. November just laughed to herself before pursing her lips together. Though, as the two English girls sent each other sassy remarks, Danielle couldn't help but meet Nova's gaze, sending the brunette a knowing look as she rose her eyebrows in curiosity. Of course, November playfully rolled her eyes at the known suspicion Danielle had been nonverbally asking her. However, as much as November had scoffed and denied it, the small blush on her cheeks and the sudden bashful demeanour she had developed would contradict...
