One stubborn individual, Sakata Gintoki, refuses to let his samurai spirit diminish. Since samurais are obsolete, he performs odd jobs around town for a living along with Shinpachi, Kagura, and Sadaharu. They run the Yorozuya, and are often caught up in all sorts of crazy misshaps.
Review:
The story line of this manga is so dynamic. It may be wordy but it's still hilarious. They say that you could only understand the jokes better if your Japanese, but for me as a Southeastern Asian with limited Japanese knowledge, it still made me smile with its hilarity and accompanying life lessons.
I should also point out the sword fights in this manga. Everything is so detailed and well-processed. It almost made me forget that this was originally a gag manga. You can really see the effort when it comes to the fight scenes.
P.S I salute the author for the hilarious ending that's almost the same length as a separate arc.

Favorite character/s:
Yorozuya. Forever favorite crackheads.
Katsura. One of the good-looking ones who turns out to have a few screws loose. His 'Zurump' parody was one of the unforgettable disguises he did.
Hijikata Toshiro. I relate to him in the name of mayonnaise. He's also a cool soldier when he needs to be one.
Okita. My favorite sadist.
