Synopsis:

After Kaneki's "death" in the previous series, he has taken in a new identity as Haise Sasaki, the leader of CCG's special unit, the Quinx Squad. It is a unit wherein the members have undergone surgery to acquire ghoul abilities in order to attack ghouls. Aside from Kaneki's identity crisis, the Aogiri Tree has started to invade humanity, and the CCG turns out to be not what it seems.

Review:

As always, I'd give a solid 1000/10 rating when it comes to Ishida's art style. Especially, the volume covers. A real eye candy. Its soft colors are in contrast to the dark theme that this manga actually is.

For the plot, I'd say every chapter is a series of plot twists and "sike, nibba u thought" moment. The new characters are really likeable and each of them gets a bit of a spotlight in their past making you understand their character and what they fight for and all, whether they are ghoul or human. The Quinx Squad itself is quite an adorable bunch. But to be honest my interest went downhill when Kaneki's quiet Haise-life turned back to a depressing state when he has reverted back to his old identity. There's also this TouKen development that I didn't even need.

Overall, I'd give this a 3-star because I got disappointed when the CCG turns out to be headed by ghouls and because a lot of my favorite characters died in this series. After reading the manga, I didn't really bother finishing the anime (the music is good though).

Favorite character/s:

Haise Sasaki. A side of Kaneki Ken I admire. I know this is just a façade but it's quite sad that he didn't last long.
