66. The Hunt - 2

Dumbledore, McGonagall and Lily talk to Myrtle Warren, AKA, Moaning Myrtle.

"I don't know, Professor. I was distraught. But they said something funny. A kind of made up language. And I realized that it was a boy speaking. So I unlocked the door to tell him to GO AWAY. And... I died." She said in a very sad voice. "Just like that? How?" asked Lily. "I just remember seeing a pair of great big yellow eyes over there, by that sink." She said before floating away.

The examined the sink and noticed a snake etched on the side. "Call them in. We might need Harry's help to open this." Said Dumbledore. Lily nodded and went to get the others. She might not be showing it, but she was terrified that they had to involve her son in this. James saw her worry and wrapped a hand around her shoulder.

The opening of the chamber occurs just as in the book/movie.

Harry wished for stairs and they appeared. They slowly made their way downstairs and the lights appeared as soon as Harry willed for it. They saw a heck lot of bones and the shed skin of what seemed like at least a sixty-foot-long basilisk. They noticed another door at the back and went inside once Harry opened it.

"Watch out everyone. If you notice any movement, close your eyes." Instructed Dumbledore. Harley caught Harry's attention. This movement caught everyone's attention. "What is it, Harley?" he asked. "I think I know where that Basilisk is. If you would let me..." said the snake.

When Harry translated the message, Dumbledore nodded. "Can you understand me, Harley? Nod if you do." Albus said. The snake nodded. "Would you tell the beast to calm down and not attack when you bring him out?" Harley again nodded and slithered away towards the huge face of Salazar Slytherin. There was a small hole through which he went inside. After a while, he came out. He told Harry to close his eyes and convey the message to everyone. Once everyone had their eyes firmly shut, the mouth of the statue opened and the basilisk came out.
