Some Scarian fluff requested by Hermitshipper10 :)

This took a day or two extra to write, but I am low key really proud of it so I'd say it's a good trade off-

Warnings:

-Scar overworks himself a tad :(

Let me know if I missed anything and I will add it immediately!

~3rd POV~

Scar let a satisfied smile twitch at his lips as he studied the custom work trees and the little sparkling blue stones that were mixed in with the green foliage. Sure, this took way longer than expected and was only there for the aesthetics, but Scar loved it anyway. He flew down from his perch on the town hall stairs, gliding and landing in the square and letting the Disney Park-like feel wash over and calm his soul for the first time in ages. The boards on either side of the gray paths, lined with polished granite reminded him of a faint feeling of home.

But, now was no time to feel the nostalgia. Scar still had more to do. Mayoral duties were not the only thing that filled the man's schedule and before long, that feeling of peace was gone as Scar set off a rocket, blasting himself into the air. He found himself launching farther and farther into the sky until the shopping district below was a tiny, now lush green speck. It had taken hours, but, majority of the Mycelium Menace had been dug away. He let his eyes linger on the sight before his elytra caught the wind and he flew away.

Scar prided himself in the fact that he had managed to keep his promise of making the district a beautiful and peaceful place for the hermits to take care of their shopping needs. Even if this was just the beginning, it was still progress.

"Speaking of progress," Scar murmured to himself as after not long, six mega hermit bases came into view, his magical village and drill project to the Nether being one of them. The drill had been given an arm to help keep it stabilized and a control panel for when he was ready to drill below the Earth's surface.

Well, the project would have been started when he was ready, had Scar not owned a cat.

Scar landed just outside the big dig site, among his chest monster and bed. He hadn't noticed, but the sun had indeed dipped past the horizon line and left the sky a dark void decorated with dainty stars at the moon's absence due to clouds. He was tempted to take a break and just turn in for the night, but there was still so much to accomplish. Resources wouldn't gather themselves, collection systems wouldn't appear overnight, and the Nether couldn't wait for him any longer than it had.

With one last remorseful look back at the soft looking bed, Scar quickly dug through his storage and tried to find what he needed before heading back towards the drill. He hated skipping out on sleep for another night, but it had to be done. His fireworks echoed through the land around him as he got to work, humming that tune he always seemed to while he placed blocks.

Scar didn't particularly enjoy the darkness, he could barely see his own hands in front of his face in areas of the drill devoid of a proper light source. Mobs spawned in all sorts of places, even in his face, almost causing more than a few deaths. None of that accounted for the ear blasting screeches of phantoms that bellowed from overhead, but Scar forced himself to put up with it all. He couldn't sacrifice taking any more time away from that drill today just because he was uncomfortable. He worked until his eyes became too droopy to hold open, then forced himself to work some more.

The sound of fast approaching rocket blasts didn't even register in Scar's head until the flyer was practically right next to him.

"Scar what are you-" The red sweater clad man had started, making Scar jump out of his skin and instinctively respond with a flying fist that was barely dodged. "Woah! What was that for?"

It took Scar a moment to process what had just happened. His tired brain was still rambling on about which part of the drill to work on next. "Grian?! You gave me a heart attack! What are you doing here?"

"Dude, why are you still even up? It's the middle of the night." Grian gestured boldly towards the sky above him, as if Scar had just neglected to notice.

"Well, this drill won't work on itself," Scar responded, matter of factly. "I was going to head to bed after I finished this part, don't worry." It felt wrong to lie to Grian, but Scar really didn't want him to worry. This work just had to get done and Scar was already behind schedule.

But the Brit didn't seem to fall for it anyway, casting a look at Scar before gently wrapping an arm around his wrist and haphazardly helping him glide away from the drill project and into the faint light of the magical village.

"Hey," Scar protested lightly. "I have to get back to work."

"Haven't you worked enough?"

The question left Scar sluggishly searching for an answer that was already right in front of him.

Grian lead the Shopping District mayor towards Larry the Snail and closer to bed. Deep down, Scar knew this was for the best, but he really didn't want to sleep until he caught up with everything and nothing he did seemed to break up the grind. Grian was right, hadn't he worked enough?

Scar's aching bones screamed in relief after Grian gently shoved him backwards and onto the purple bed sheets. Just the soft sensation of the bed after so long of working made Scar want to cry. He hadn't realized how much his body hurt until that very moment.

"Go to sleep, you look like you need it, I'll see you in the morning?" Grian had turned towards the ladder to leave, but had stopped himself at the feeling of a hand on his own. Then arms wrapped themselves around this torso and a head rested on his shoulder.

"Please, stay with me? Just for tonight?"

Scar held onto Grian as the pair found themselves locked in each other's eyes. Neither wanted to move, savoring the moment of sudden intimacy. They were so close together that Scar could feel the shorter man's breath on his chin. He wanted more, wanted the feeling of Grian's lips against his own. Did Grian want that too?

"Grian, can I kiss you?" The question startled Scar himself, he didn't actually expect the words to come out of his mouth. He didn't even think he would have been able to articulate what he wanted, but the question was simple and now out there.

Grian also seemed surprised by the question, the pink hue dusting over his cheeks was barely noticeable in the dim, lamp lit room. This wasn't his mission for tonight, but he had no issue making room for it. Sheepishly, he nodded his head and closed the gap between the two.

Sparks were flying. The kiss was far too short, but still sweet. The two pulled apart and stared at each other before giggling and going back in. Scar found his fingers tangled in Grian's soft hair and the hands wrapping around his own torso were confirmation enough that this was okay. When Scar felt the force of Grian starting to walk forward, he collapsed back onto the bed and pulled away once more, lips red and breath struggling to keep up with his lungs.

"I'll stay with you, just for tonight." Grian confirmed as they both lay down under the blanket, snuggled against each other.

The feeling of peace from hours earlier finally came back as Scar let his eyes flutter closed. Working did not matter and the Nether and Shopping District could wait. All that mattered was here and now, with Grian. Everything else could wait.
