Chapter 34: No, I Can't

Lauren, Xander, James, and I just finished eating lunch together at a restaurant.

I checked the time and it was 3PM.

"Let's go back to the house." Lauren said.

We went back to the house and the boys sat on the couch and watched television.

"Jewel, come to the washroom with me." Lauren said.

I followed her.

Lauren was fixing her hair.

I looked at the mirror and I saw myself with my hair down and I was wearing a pink romper. I put my hands in my pockets while I was waiting for Lauren. Her brown hair was in a pretty side fishtail braid and in a blue casual dress.

"It's a pretty hot day today, right?" I asked Lauren.

"Yeah I feel like a sweaty potato."

I giggled.

"Let's do something that includes water." Lauren smiled at me in the mirror.

"Huh? Like what?"

"I will set up something outside.. Don't look I will surprise you."

She ran out of the bathroom and I hear the front door open and close.

I went to the living room. The guys were watching Arrow.

"What is Lauren up to?" Xander asked me.

"I have no idea."

Lauren ran in the room.

"Okay, let's go outside on this hot day!"

She dragged us out the door. I see a sprinkler on her front yard.

"TA DA!!!..."

We looked at it and looked at her.

"Cmon!"

She took our hands and dragged us out to the sprinkler. The sprinkler moved side to side.

I squealed when the cold water touched my skin. I ran to the side where water wouldn't splash on me.

Xander enjoyed the water spraying him.

"I will sit out and watch.. I ate too much food." James said.

"Suit yourself.. C'mon Jewel!!" Lauren grinned.

I ran in and smiled. "C-cold water!" I ran back out.

Xander watched me. "Enjoy it Jewel!"

I shook my head.

He walked over and picked me up bridal style. "Ahhhh!"

He walked to the water and I felt the cold water again. I hugged Xander tightly. "Ahh!!"

He chuckled. He put me down and I got used to the water.

I laughed and collected water to splash their faces. We played tag under the sprinkler. I loved this moment so much!

James' POV

They played and ran around the sprinkler.

I watched Jewel have fun.

She looked so pretty when she's smiling.

I realized what I was thinking.

I shook my head.

No, I can't like Jewel. I hurt her.

I watched Xander pick up Jewel. She hugged him.

I grew with jealousy.

I wanted to yell at Xander to put her down.

But, I stopped myself.

Stop! Stop looking at Jewel..

I couldn't. I couldn't stop looking at her.

When she smiled, I smiled too.

I think I liked her like how I did back then.
