As For You Two

Ruby's neck snapped to look down the hall. Standing in the center was a slender, confused Cathryn. She glanced between the two confusedly.

"I was just coming to check on you-" Clair explained nervously.

"As was I." Ruby interjected sourly.

"Hush the two of you, before you wake up the whole household." Cathryn reprimanded them.

She seemed unusually unfazed that sight of two men standing before her door.

"Now shoo, I'd like to sleep now." She explained cooly.

Clair reached to touch her arm as she walked past the two of them. Jerking back suddenly, she shot him a nasty glare. Which she then averted to Ruby, who looked away.

"Don't you dare touch me Clair." She warned.

"And look at the two of you. Squabbling at my doorstep, get back to bed, have you no manners?" She began, Clair only braced himself for more scolding.

Her cheeks grew red, and she turned to look at Ruby, her temper visibly rising.

"And you," She began, stepping towards him in a challenging manner.

"How dare you rear your dreadful 'putain de cul' anywhere near me." Cathryn teased him with her knowledge of French, his eyes widening in response.

"And making up that little white lie like you did at dinner, you have no business being here Ruby Rodriguez."

Cathryn gave him a sickeningly sweet smile and the proceeded to strike him across the cheek. Ruby winced, but remained still. Giving a little devious laugh, she whirled to face Clair.

"As I stated only a moment earlier, I'd like to rest now."

Cathryn threw open her door, leaving the two boys stunned in the hallway. One goggling at the closed door in his face, the other tentatively holding his cheek. Ruby, to Clair's surprise, started off in the opposite direction, leaving Clair alone. With no choice but to go back to his room, rather than face Cathryn's wrath, which he certainly wouldn't dare try, he began the sluggish walk back. Upon turning down the hallway, he was greeted with yet another surprise of the night.
