~~Yuuto's P.O.V~~
I woke up with a jolt, a sudden wave of nausea hitting me as my eyes struggled to see without my glasses. I quickly reached into my pouch, pulling out my glasses, my heart sinking as soon as I felt for the lenses.
There were none.
I reached back into my pocket and pulled out shards of what was my glasses, slicing up my hands a little. I slid the frames back into the pouch, grimacing at the blood coming from my hand.
I suddenly heard a creak and the door slowly opened to reveal a girl with long black hair and brown eyes. In her arms was a basket filled with herbs and bandages.
"Oh, you're awake," She began, smiling. "Oh, but how'd you cut my hand?"
"Where am I?" I asked, trying to stand up.
I quickly felt myself tip, falling into the surprisingly strong arms of this girl.
"I'm afraid I can't tell you," She replied. "And please do not try to move around too much, your body is quite weak at the moment."
"And why is that?" I growled, narrowing my eyes at the now blurry figure.
"I drugged you," She replied. "Only so I could make sure you didn't leave, I can't have you giving away our location. But don't worry it should wear off in a few hours."
I groaned. "What the actual fuck?"
The girl helped me sit down on the bed, pulling out a roll of bandages and dressing the cuts on my hand.
"So, who are you?" I asked, knowing that I wouldn't be getting out of here anytime soon.
"My name is Haku," She replied. "And yours?"
"Yuuto," I answered. "So how'd I get here anyway?"
"I knocked you out of the sky," She said cheerfully. "I thought you were a large bird for a moment with your wings and all."
I flinched, suddenly noticing that I wasn't wearing my cloak and my wings were on full display.
"Well shit," I groaned. "Today is just not my day, I really need to get back to Kakashi-sensei and the others."
"Sorry," She smiled. "But like I said I can't do that."
I sighed, my shoulders slumping forwards. My posture tensed again when the door creaked open, my muscles tightening with fear when I saw who it was.
"Oh, so he's up," Zabuza Momochi said, leaning on the doorframe with his arms crossed. "I was worried you killed him."
"Other than a few scratches on his hand he's fine," Haku replied. "I wasn't trying to hurt him."
"So you won't try to kill me?" I asked nervously, immensely confused by the whole situation. "Because her shooting me out of the sky and drugging me sends a different message."
"I'm a boy actually," Haku corrected me. "But I'm used to being seen as a girl."
"Oh, you are?" I asked, honestly surprised. "I'm a bit embarrassed considering I'm misgendered a lot myself."
"Anyway Haku, keep an eye on him," Zabuza sighed. "I won't kill him, but he could give away our hideout, so don't let him out of your site until we finish this job."
"I understand." Haku replied, nodding his head respectfully.
Zabuza nodded at Haku and gave me a threatening look before leaving the room. I shivered when the door shut, deciding right there and then that if I valued my life I should heed his warning.
"So," Haku said suddenly, breaking the silence and causing me to flinch. "Can I touch your wings? How'd you get them? Were you born with them? What about your tail?"
"Woah slow down," I replied, backing away from the starry eyed boy. "Yes you can touch my wings, but that's it, I don't feel like talking about anything else."
Haku nodded in understanding, and the look in his eyes surprised me. Rather than curiosity, or pity for my past, he looked understanding. I felt my resolve crumble, my emotions winning over the rational part of me. Why did I feel like spilling all my secrets to this boy? A boy that had not only knocked me out of the sky, but is also working with my enemy and keeping me captive. Why would I tell him what I haven't even told my teammates or closet friend?
I extended a wing towards Haku, making him jump slightly in surprise. Slowly, he reached for the wing, running his hand along my feathers.
"I was born with my eyes and skin the way they are," I began quietly, looking at the floor. "Despite the strange appearance, I was a normal child living with my parents. No wings, no tail. I liked my life, my parents treated me well, even though they didn't like that I wanted to use my chakra. But my parents were murdered and I watched them die right in front of me before their murderer kidnapped me. Long story short, now I look like this."
Haku was quiet for a moment, his reply short. "I see."
I nodded, pulling my wing back towards me.
"So I guess this means I'm stuck with you?" I nervously chuckled.
"For the time being yes," Haku replied. "I would recommend behaving yourself, I wouldn't want to have to stop you using... Extreme methods."
I nodded. "Right, even if I did want to try anything you've already taken my weapons and my glasses are broken, so don't worry about me too much."
Haku smiled in a slightly threatening way. "Good, now why don't you help me make dinner? You may feel a bit slow due to the herbs I used on you, but that shouldn't affect you too much and Zabuza-sama is still resting, help would be nice."
I sighed. "Am I really in a position to say no?"
"Good point," Haku chuckled. "Come along, surely even without glasses you can help me cut vegetables."
I sighed. Why did I have to end up in this mess?
~~With The Rest of Team 7~~
Sakura walked deeper into the forest, sent to tell Yuuto it was time to eat dinner, however, something was wrong.
She had now been walking through the woods calling his name for twenty minutes only to receive no response. She knew she could be loud, so there way no way he didn't hear her.
Sakura had a bad feeling about this, and she was quick to rush back to Tazuna's house, sliding the door open so quickly that it smacked the wall, spooking everyone who was eating.
"Where's Yuuto?" Naruto asked, setting his bowl of rice down.
"I couldn't find him anywhere," Sakura panicked. "I called his name but he never responded, I haven't even found any sign of him, no note, no footprints, nothing! It's like he vanished!"
"This isn't good," Kakashi groaned. "We don't even know if he ran off or was attacked."
"I have a bad feeling about this." Sasuke mumbled.
"For once I agree with you..." Naruto related.
"What do we do Kakashi-sensei?" Sakura asked.
"I'll give Yuuto until sunset," Kakashi decided. "If he's not back by then... Well we might have to continue the mission assuming the worst."
"How could you say that?!" Naruto roared.
"I'm not saying we give up Naruto," Kakashi assured him. "We'll just have to split up our manpower, while a few of us guard Tazuna, the rest can look for any traces of Yuuto."
"Alright," Naruto agreed. "I just won't abandon him."
Sasuke nodded.
Sakura glanced out the window, watching as the sun began to set, her hands shaking.

Holy crap it's been like a year and a half since I last updated this book, but I do plan to return to it! So look forward to future updates! This chapter is a bit on the short side, but I figured that after all this time publishing something is better than nothing.
