One day later
Justine’s P.O.V

When I tell you that trying to understand frog is difficult, trust me. It is very difficult to understand.
They talk in a weird way, and don’t understand us. So, as we sat in the cockpit and listened to
this frog lady rant about how only God knows what, Din and I looked at each other.
Let’s go back a bit.
Peli Motto managed to somehow find this frog lady seeking passage to a moon called Trask,
where her husband lives. Bad news is, no hyperdrive. She has unfertilized eggs that will die if
we make a jump at that speed. This journey would probably take at least four times the length it
normally would take if not for this setback.
Now back to the present.
The Razor Crest was going at such a slow speed, we were vulnerable to pirates, mercenaries,
ex-Empire, or anything else that travels in this space. I look over to Din, who looked like a
statue. His helmet faced forward, his shoulders were squared and his back straight.
“Mando? Where’s the kid? Isn’t it time for him to be asleep?” I ask, side glancing at the frog
lady, who seemed weary of what we were saying. Either she did or didn’t understand us, we
wouldn’t know.
Along the way, we were going super slow. Two X-Wings flew to either side of the Razor Crest. I
tensed up a bit, and listened to what they were saying over the comms.

The pilot called in, “Razor Crest, M-One-Eleven. Come in, Razor Crest. Do you copy?”

Mando responded; “This is Razor Crest. Is there a problem?”

“We noticed your transponder is not emitting.”

“Yes, I’m pre-Empire surplus. I’m not required to run a beacon.”

“That was before. This sector is under New Republic jurisdiction. All craft are required to run a
beacon.”

“Thank you for letting me know. I’ll get right on it.”

“Not a problem. Safe travels.”

“May the Force be with you.”

“And also with you. Just one more thing.”

“Yes?”

“I’m gonna need you to send us a ping. We’re out here sweeping for Imperial holdouts.”

“I’ll let you know if I see any.”

“’m still gonna need you to send us that ping.”

“Well, I’m not sure I have that hardware online.”

“We can wait.”

“Yeah, I… Doesn’t seem to be working.”

“That’s too bad. If we can’t confirm you’re not Imperial, you’re gonna have to follow us to the
outpost at Adelphi. They’ll run your tabs.”

“Oh, wait. There it is. Transmitting now.”

The frog lady woke up with a loud gasp, looking around and croaking.
Mando hushed her, “Be quiet!” I try to get her to calm down.

“What’s that?” The pilot, Carson, said.

“Uh, nothing. The hypervac is drawing off the exhaust manifold.”

The frog lady wouldn’t shut up, so I kept making extreme gestures to shut her up.

The other pilot, Wolf, opened the comms. “can you switch over to channel two?”

Carson replied, “Copy.”

We waited about two long minutes before we got any word from Carson, the X-Wings got into
defense position; “Was your craft in the proximity of New Republic Correctional Transport,
Bothan-Five?”

With that, Din took off, not leaving a second to waste.

“We got a runner.”

“I’m on it.”

“Razor Crest, stand down. We will fire. I repeat, we will fire.”

“I don’t know where he thinks he’s goin’ in that thing.”

“That thing’s gonna break apart in this atmosphere.”

We went down into an ice cavern, and once we fell, we were all knocked unconscious.
Mando and I woke first, I looked around and groaned. “The kid...where’s the kid?”

He gasped and ran down from the cockpit and looked around, “Kid? Kid?”

We soon found him slurping the eggs. Din yelled at him and got him to stop, “How many did you eat?” He
asked, when the kid slurped one more.

The Razor Crest was destroyed. As Mando started on repairs, I walked out and helped him make repairs. The kid started walking away, and Din frowned, starting to follow the little guy. I followed them, and there were the frog lady’s footsteps
in the deep snow heading further into the cavern.”How long has she been gone?”

As we walked and followed the footsteps, we looked around and saw the frog lady bathing in a
small hot spring, her eggs were in the water, due to the warmth most likely.
“Hey, we gotta get out of here.” I say, helping Din and her scoop the eggs out of the hot spring and add them to the jar. We didn’t notice the kid go back and eat a spider egg, until he ran back
squealing. Spiders were running towards us and we were running back to the ship.

Din and I were shooting any spiders that came close to us.
But the Crest couldn’t hold the spiders for long and we were stuck in the cockpit.

The giant spider stabbed a hole through the cockpit window. Just when we lost hope, blaster fire spread
from outside. Din and I carefully made our way out of the ship, we saw the two X-Wings from earlier.

Carson spoke, “We ran the tabs on the Razor Crest. You have an arrest warrant for the abduction of prisoner X-Six-Nine-Eleven. However, onboard security records show that you
apprehended three priority culprits from the Wanted Register. Security records also show that you put your own life in harm’s way to try to protect that of Lieutenant Davan from the New Republic Correctional Corps. Is this true?”

“Am I under arrest?”

“Technically, you should be. But these are trying times.”

“What say I forego the bounties on these three criminals, and you two help me fuse my hull so I can get off this frozen rock?”

“What say you fix that transponder, and we don’t vaporize that antique the next time we patrol the Rim?”

The two left, and Din and I finished enough repairs to be able to leave this ice rock.

“All right. I’m gonna repair the cockpit enough for us to limp to Trask. There’s nothing I can do about the main hull’s integrity, so we’re gonna have to get cozy in the cockpit. It’s the only thing
I can pressurize. If you need to use the privy, do it now. It’s gonna be a long ride.” he told the frog lady before we started repairs.

And all together, after the repairs,, we left and started the long journey to Trask.
