As we saunter into the student filled space, I realize that we are entering the Room of Requirement. Ginny leads me through the crowd by my hand, Hermione following behind me. Once we arrive at the other side of the room, she comes to a halt and pulls me forward, making me stand in front of her to face her. I stumble a bit from the abrupt action, and bump into the table behind me. I glance over my shoulder to see the punch bowl's rough ripples almost spilling over the edge. "Oops, sorry." Ginny apologizes.
"It's fine. Why are we here though?" I ask with one brow raised. Hermione forces an awkward cough, and I glance at her suspiciously.
"Surprise!" Several voices shout from behind me. I jump to the side, rolling my ankle and falling onto the cold, stone floor.
"Shit." Fred says before hurrying over to me and offering his hand. I take it and quickly jump into his arms. "Happy birthday Darling." He whispers into my hair. After a few seconds, we pull away. I glance around to Harry, Ron, and George who are standing beside the table wearing large grins.
"Do you like it?" Ron asks excitedly.
"Like what?" I ask confused.
"Wait, you didn't tell her?" He turns towards Hermione and Ginny.
"Bloody hell I forgot. This is a surprise birthday party for you!" Hermione exclaims.
"A party. For me?" I raise my eyes brows in disbelief. I wasn't very popular, I mean besides my name floating around because of the rumor.
"Yep! We thought you could use a bit of fun." Ginny adds with a wide smile. I take a step to my right and embrace them tightly.
"Thank you," I laugh as I pull away.
"Of course! Alright enough of the hugging and 'Thank yous.' It's time to dance!" Ginny beams, pulling me towards the dance floor, everyone else following behind us.
After ten minutes of casual dancing, our song comes on. The song that Ginny, Hermione, and I created choreography for in the first year during Christmas break at the burrow. My jaw drops, not having heard or danced to it in years. A circle forms around us, everyone waiting to watch. Over the next three and a half minutes, we danced our hearts out. Even though the dance moves were horrible and they was embarrassing to do, I felt comforted at that moment. It felt like the first year, a time when things weren't complicated.
Our laughs fill the room as we take over the dance floor. The crowd cheers us on as we have the time of our lives.
The song eventually ends, and we prance back over to the boys, chuckling along the way. "Who knew you three could dance! I mean have you seen Ginny in her room before?" Ron says to George wide-eyed, earning a kick in the shin from Ginny. "What's gotten into you, hell!" He whines, causing us all to snicker. Ginny narrows her eyes at him.
As soon as the music changed to a slow pace, Fred nonchalantly takes my hand and pulls me away without anyone noticing. He twirls me angelically, pulling me close to his chest. "Are you having a good time y/n/n?" He asks, laying his head on top of mine.
"I'm having a lovely time. Thank you." I respond, pressing my cheek against his muscular chest, and closing my eyes. I can still see the beautiful golden lights through my eyelids as I think about everything and nothing. We slowly sway until the second song ends. I open my eyes and glance up at Fred, who's coincidently looking down at me. We share a loving half-grin before I stand up on my toes to kiss him on the lips.
My eyes drift over to the other side of the room, causing me to notice a blonde girl waving towards me with a large grin. "Oh, there's Luna! I'm gonna go say hi." I mention, letting go of his hand as he sends me a flirtatious wink.
