"Good morning class, today we have a new student from Japan!" Mr. Choi announced enthusiastically.
The chatter in the classroom died down as students were even startled by Mr. Choi's loud and booming voice. The new student stood sullenly, as if being in a new school and class already bore him.
"Introduce yourself!" Mr. Choi urged reassuringly.
The new boy let out a heavy sigh before quickly bowing as he clutched onto the strap of his bag tightly.
"I'm Nishimura Riki. You can call me Ni-ki for short. Please take care of me," Ni-ki greeted monotonously before heading to his designated seat.
The classroom erupted in chatter again, only with Ni-ki as their subject of gossip. Ni-ki sat at the back of the classroom with a million thoughts running through his mind.
He hated how he had to leave his hometown, how had to leave his childhood friends behind.
He hated how he had to readjust to everything again, he didn't want to. He slumped against his seat as he listened to Mr. Choi's English lesson.
"The least I can do is score well so I can graduate," Ni-ki thought to himself before scribbling gibberish in his notebook.
