Hundred Years On

NO MIST

The son of Hades didn't know what to do after Percy freaking Jackson faded into the mist. It was comforting to know that even a hero needed help some time and he wasn't as put together as the history books and word-of-mouth made him out to be he was just your average guy stumbling through life trying to do the right thing. But he didn't help them with details of their quest so they were back to square one

"Great we're back to square one" Sophia grumbles, her brown curly hair bouncing against her darker skin tone and she lets out a sigh "The greatest demigod of all time and he can't tell us which direction to go!"

Kayla put her hands up, "Hey easy Soph"

"You're just saying that because he's your great-great-great-grandfather" Sophia pointed out to the blonde shaking her head. Kayla raises an eyebrow in Sophia's direction. It was commonly known that Sophia didn't like being compared to her family and she once confided in Asher that it was because she never believed that she could live up to her ancestor's legends and Sophia knew this but dug her heels in a bit as tensions were running high

"O-kay guys maybe we shouldn't be fighting"

"Uhhh if anyone's interested we're going to die," Abdul says, his voice shaky and it was hard for them to understand but Asher had known him for years and could read him like a book and he followed his line of sight to see hell hounds and cyclopses charging at them and Asher immediately cursed before drawing out his sword and getting into a fighting stance

"Abe stay behind if this gets dicey use of one of your rockets!"

Abdul nods his heads and Asher turns his attention to the girls who had stopped their arguments and was now back-to-back turning in a circle. Weapons raised and moving in sync as if they could read each other's minds, this is something that always confused Asher about Sophia and Kayla they could go from being at each other's throats to slashing the throats of her enemies

Asher focused on the cyclopses cutting and slashing them until they turned to dust. His tunnel-focus helping the seventeen-year-old boy with wielding his sword and in a matter of twenty minutes he had eradicated the monsters around him

"That was quite the workout" Kayla states as she brushes her dirty blonde hair from her face

Sophia laughed breathlessly from where she stood by Kayla "You're telling me"

"Are you okay guys?" Abdul shouted driving his wheelchair forward so it was next to his friends, his eyes scanning their faces for any signs of injury and when he found no bar a couple of scratches here and there, he sighed in relief and turned his attention back to the son of Hades

"Well that was unexpected but I'm glad we all got out of it alive"

"You would say that given that you can't really die!" Sophia shot back

"Okay maybe this body can die and if I'm not paying attention my soul can end up trapped between bodies and we wouldn't like that because that is like dying, so I've still got to be careful" Asher defended himself weakly

"Why?" Sophia asked, eyebrow raised and head cocked to the side, her dark ringlets covering half her face but she didn't bother moving it as she narrowed her eyes into slits " Who told you that Persephone?"

"Well, she is my mom!"

"Oh yeah, I forgot that you don't like talking about the fact that you're a God and not just a demigod like the rest of us! What are your domains again? Blessed death and Suicides, well aren't you lucky! This must feel like a vacation slumming it with the rest of us" Sophia spat bitterly, her dark eyes seemingly glowing brightly like a fire

"You know I think of you as friends--"

"Well aren't we lucky to have a God protecting us"

Asher sighed before cursing in Spanish, (Something that his mama taught him to do when she still lived with her before he moved to Camp and found out the truth that the person he thought was his mother was actually just in charge of looking after him until he was old enough to go to Camp and learn the truth) this was getting them nowhere and they had this argument maybe a hundred times before

Abdul surprisingly was the voice of reason "Soph let it go already! Yes, he's a God but it's not like he chose to be his parents chose to have sex you know how the thing goes and I know you don't like the other Gods because you still believe there's more that they should be doing but hasn't he proven to you multiple times that he can be trusted I mean to the Gods above he saved your life multiple times and you're still holding a grudge for him over something that he can't control and he's taken it, he's not said a word against you until I would have done"

Kayla put her hand on Sophia's shoulder "He's right Soph, you really have held it against him"

"Whose side are you supposed to be on? Your my girlfriend"

"I'm on your side unless you're doing something stupid and in this case you are"

"Oh great see look now you've turned my own girlfriend against me"

"You know I'm surprised you're not my sister or at least half because you sure do know how to hold a grudge. Dad was surprised when he saw that it wasn't my fatal flaw but then he just chuckled and said he shouldn't be surprised since I take after my mom more" Asher cut in, deciding it was safe to join the conversation

"Yeah I think it surprised my mom and siblings too"

"I'm not surprised Aphrodite's always be kind of vein"

"You know it still amazes me that you can get away with saying stuff like that and not get smited into the ground"

"Last time I said something along those lines. She cursed me and I had the dead fawning over me for a year" Asher winced at the memory before shuddering "Let's hope she just didn't listen in this time"
