Megara Goodwin

NO MIST

Megara Goodwin knew a thing or two about unrequited love, she would often fall in love only to be left heartbroken, a few months later. It wasn't a life-threatening flaw but it was still very annoying as she often got attached to people too quickly and was often left heartbroken

Of course, she was known as the heartbreaker as she often had many boyfriends within the month but she didn't mind that title as she grew older, it was better than people knowing the truth that she got far too attached a little too quick only to be left in the dust a while later

And as the sun beat down on Camp Half-Blood, Megara threw her head back, the raven tendrils spilling down her back as she squints at the sun. The sounds around her coming back at full force, the clang on metal on metal and the ripping of paper and materiel as the Apollo kids land bullseye after bullseye

She doesn't know why -- well that's a lie of course she does -- but when her eyes are no longer bleary from looking up at the sun, she finds her eyes being drawn to the sword arena where her friend Luke Castilian was training the younger campers in the art of using a sword, she herself likes to use twin swords and has got pretty good at it over the years but she was horrible with children Chiron found out about that after the mentor had put her in charge for the afternoon, it ended up with three kids crying and two in the hospital and Megara herself on the edge of a mental breakdown and from then on Luke had taken over as sword instructor

Trying not to drool as she looks at the sandy blonde haired demigod, who with that muscular frame and tall height looked like he worked out every day (which he did) and not only that but he had defined features such as a sharp nose and icy blue eyes that made him look intriguing and mysterious even the thick scar that ran down from his eye to his chin and even though many people have thought that ruined his image, Megara thought it made him look even more attractive

And only enhanced his godly blood as he looked like a God himself

Though Megara would only keep that as a quiet observation since Luke hated her father and Megara would probably hate her own father if she knew who he was but she didn't eighteen years after arriving at camp and she was still unclaimed, probably the longest demigod to not to be claimed

And it wasn't like she could just ask her mother either

Megara mother had died in childbirth, leaving her alone in the world and she had been at Camp for as long as she could remember although she was too young to remember how she got there, Chiron said he had found her wrapped in a blanket screaming her lungs out with a note saying 'She's one of you. Take care of my baby girl her name is Megara'

That was it, that was all the note said Chiron had even given her the note and she keeps it in her pocket always, never taking it out of the jacket she wears over her faded orange t-shirt and she lifted her head back up, her eyes once again finding Luke and she was ashamed to say she was checking him out, the way his slender but defined muscles shaped his body and his orange camp t-shirt clung to his body like a second skin since it had been drenched in sweat and was now showing his stomach muscles and abs

"Hey Meg, you okay?" Luke asked, a mischievous smirk in his eyes that all Hermes kid seem to have and Megara couldn't help but swoon a little on the inside "Aren't you supposed to be teaching the little kids about the great almighty gods"

"Yeah but Annabeth said she'd take over"

"Shame on you pushing your work onto a twelve-year-old"

"She wanted to and besides she is a daughter of Athena!"

Luke rolls his eyes as he props down next to Megara, his sharp blue eyes looking at her pale features and dark brown eyes "So what's my bestie going to do today?"

When he smiled, Megara felt her heart flutter and although he only saw her as a best friend she couldn't help herself as she wished for more, she had been in love for him since she was thirteen but she fell in love quickly with other people only to fall out of love a few months later when they step on her heart and shatter it into pieces "Nothing. I guess I'll practice with my twin swords later?"

"They're the only thing that you got from your father?"

"Yeah like that's the only thing that he gave me -- well gave to Chiron indirectly when he put the note in my blanket he also put the swords next to my blanket" She explains with a shrug, and there wasn't a trace of bitterness in her tone as she had come to terms with the fact that her father was just too busy to claim her

"Its so annoying that the Gods won't even claim their kids and even when they do they hardly spend time with them, I mean I've only met my father once while on Olympus" Luke comments bitterly and Megera would be lying if she said she wasn't surprised by his rude tone

"At least you know who your dad is" Megera jokes lightly

"It's not fair you're dad should know what a wonderful person you are"

"Well if you find out who is can you ask him why he named me Megara? Because I've always wondered why he would name me after someone who was killed by another demigod who was driven mad by Hera and killed his wife -- my namesake -- Megara and his kids" Megara laughs lightly although it was it noway funny, the world of the Greek Gods was messed up

"It'll be alright Meg" Luke smiled "You'll see"
