Okay so this is a soulmate AU you only see in black and white until you meet your soulmate and you then eventually see in colour so you can see your soulmates for who they are

Grey was all that Nico Di Angelo saw as he walked down the streets, he saw no hues of colour on the street signs or even in the people walking by him, Nico had gotten used to his black and white world but he sometimes wished that he had already met his soulmate so that he didn't have to constantly live in a world without colour

Crossing the road the fifteen year old boy couldn't tell what colour the cars were only the make by the small symbol just above the front license plate and he wondered only for a second if this was the day he would begin to see in colour

Hesitation crossed his Italian features as Nico stopped outside of the music shop, he had come all this way to go to it, but now as he was staring at the big black shop in front of him the boy felt sick to his stomach

His older sister Bianca had always had a liking to music and she always was learning some kind of instrument or humming some sort of song and the nights where Bianca would sing just for him were nights that the small boy cherished but now those nights if he ever thought about them would just bring pain to Nico like a stab in his heart as a little under two years ago his sister had passed away from a hit a run

Two years later and Nico still felt empty and cold inside as Bianca was the next person in his family to go as Nico parents had passed away his mother passing from child birth when she had him and his father being murdered by his crazy uncle

Now he lived with his older cousin Percy Jackson and his family it was quite awkward at first since he was still getting used to the death of his sister, not to mention he had quite the crush on Percy and would blush whenever he was in ten feet of the older boy but no matter what Sally Jackson was a kind woman in her late thirties and treated Nico as if he was her own son  and eventually Nico got over His crush especially when Percy fell in love with another but on days like today Nico still felt lonely and empty on the inside especially today as Annabeth his cousins soulmate was now living with the Jackson family and Nico after a fight with her own family

Walking into the shop Nico felt a pull on his chest and all he wanted to do was turn around and run back out of the shop, but he knew he couldn't and so walked a little bit further into the shop and wondered how bright or dull the colours might be as his eyes scanned over a rack full of different sized guitars. He knew that he may never be able to see in colour, like Bianca, because he may never find his soulmate in this lifetime or if he did meet his soulmate and they started a life together then if something was to happen to either one of them and it resulted in their death he would either be dead or back to seeing in black and white, like his aunt Sally. Sally had met her soulmate more than ten years ago and together her and her soulmate Poseidon had a beautiful baby boy named Perseus when Perseus was still a baby, Poseidon joined the Marines he died in service and Sally once again saw black and white and although she is happily married with a baby on the way it is said Sally has never been happier then she was in those few fleeting years

"How may I help you today?"

Nico jumped out of his daydream and span around only to be face to face with a boy that looked around his age and had shaggy hair, that was all that Nico could tell about the boy in front of him as he couldn't see in colour

"Er..." Nico fumbled not really sure why he was in here "I would like to know how to play a guitar"

The boy nodded concealing his surprise as he gestured for the other boy to follow him, he took them both into a small room, it was no bigger than a shoebox, but it was soundproof and had tinted windows so they had a but more privacy.

Nico watched as the boy in front of him took one of the guitars carefully off the stand and turned and turned around Nico could see now that the boys name was Will thanks to the name tag he had fastened onto his shirt

"Have you ever played before?" Will asked

Nico shook his head — he hadn't —Bianca had offered to teach him once but at that time he was too young to properly learn the cords and he couldn't read thanks to his dyslexia so learning how to read music had dragged so eventually the young boy gave up

"It's okay, it's pretty simple actually"

For the next two hours Nico stayed in Will's company learning how to play the guitar and talking to him that was when the strangest thing happened: Colour started to shine through both of their eyes it was dull at first but eventually it got brighter. The two boys gasped not knowing how to react to seeing things in colour for the first time ever

Nico glanced at Will — his soulmate —to see his blonde hair falling over his eyes and how the blue in his irises inked into his pupils. He looked like a boy that spent all his time at the beach with his Khakis shorts and Hawaiian shirt for the longest time neither boy spoke until Will broke the silence

"Wanna go for coffee sometime?"
